Avoid this OCR'd (and not edited) version,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you are purchasing this book for scholarly use, or even for pleasure reading, do not purchase this version. As the publisher's description states, the book is created using optical character recognition ("OCR") software that scans the original work and then reproduces the work in a modern font. This work, however, uses and contains many Old English and other non-Latin characters and words, which is understandably beyond the ability OCR software to recognize. Unfortunately, this results in an unreadable version of this work. If your using this for scholarly research, it will results in an reliable version of the work. A scholarly reader can't be certain if the word "Fridbokh" is the Anglo-Saxon term for "frankpledge" or if it's a typo (A: it's a typo, the word should be "Fridborh").To the publisher, it would be more helpful just to reprint the scanned copy of the last edition from the 1950's. Or to have someone edit the OCR'd version, but I understand that would be a long tedious process. |
