It was a great movie. I enjoyed it immensely. Except at the end, I wasn't sure if she took him back. They leave it to your imagination. I wish it would have been more specefic.

If you like a film with a screenplay that is tight,taught,seamless,action-packed,with lots of plot twist-and-turns,then the Josh Olson written-David Cronenberg directed HISTORY OF VIOLENCE is just for you.THIS IS A GOOD ONE!!!

The town of Millbrook,a peaceful and bucolic All-American town has it's soot dredged up when Tom Stall (Viggo Mortensen) takes out two "goons" who try to rob and kill at his town Diner.At first,Tom is regarded as a town hero,but as the plot thickens,Tom may just be a former criminal on the run from the Philadelphia Mafia.See how Tom and his wife (Maria Bello)and their children play out this scenario.

The central theme of this film is DOES VIOLENCE BEGET VIOLENCE.IS VIOLENCE GENETIC? WHEN STIRRED UP SUFFICIENTLY WILL A NATURALLY CALM MILLBROOK BECOME A RAGING TORRENT?

Much like earlier films THE RETURN OF MARTIN GUERRE and SOMMERSBY,can a leopard change it's spots? Does "skim milk masquerade as cream"? Do you REALLY know the people closest to you? GOOD STUFF!WATCH IT!

This VHS tape is actually unique in the fact that is was the last Hollywood movie to ever be released onto VHS. Some would call that a collector's item.

An excellent movie--acting, writing, directing, editing--with nice twists and believable characters. And very suspenseful--you keep wondering if Viggio is or isn't the ex-criminal he's pegged as. Very enjoyable. Buy it!
