5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning, and makes up for lack of story
My friend and I go to our local book store from time to time on our outings. And I'm notorious for picking up manga books with good artwork and style. I picked this up, took one look at the cover, and knew I was buying it regardless of the story. It was so pretty, and the artwork is breathtaking. She and I read it, and the story is a short sweet and simple romance by far...

3.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Art
The History of the West Wing is a one shot work - a short one shot work.
The story is based on a Chinese romance called Xi Xiang Ji. It is a sweet story that any romance fan will adore. My only problem with it was that it developed so quickly. Once an obstacle was set up it was solve within the span of 1 to 2 pages. Then when the biggest obstacle is placed before...

3.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Art, May 21, 2009
This review is from: The History of the West Wing (Paperback)
The History of the West Wing is a one shot work - a short one shot work.
The story is based on a Chinese romance called Xi Xiang Ji. It is a sweet story that any romance fan will adore. My only problem with it was that it developed so quickly. Once an obstacle was set up it was solve within the span of 1 to 2 pages. Then when the biggest obstacle is placed before our hopeful couple it is vanquished in a panel. I felt slightly cheated.

The art work is outright, jaw-dropping beautiful and it is rendered in full color. The artist did an amazing job. The color is brillantly hued and leaves you staring at it long after you have read the page.

While I can't highly recommend the story (sweet but not memorable), I have to urge you to at least look at the art in store. It is amazing and well worth your time.

My friend and I go to our local book store from time to time on our outings. And I'm notorious for picking up manga books with good artwork and style. I picked this up, took one look at the cover, and knew I was buying it regardless of the story. It was so pretty, and the artwork is breathtaking. She and I read it, and the story is a short sweet and simple romance by far nothing too fancy or intricate. But the artwork makes up for it. I keep this book next to my bedside table just because its pretty to look at. And I catch myself reading it a bit and even through all the way just by picking it up to look at the pretty pages. Worth the money you pay. In the back there are a few illustrations as extras, and they are the best part of the book in my opinion. Its not a thick book either, so it wont be a waste of space. I recommend it if not for the story, but for the art.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of Jiayu's 'History', September 10, 2010
This review is from: The History of the West Wing (Paperback)
A simple, yet stunning adaption. It's the sort of pleasant story you read in one sitting--perhaps even to your children. The best aspect of this work is definitely the art by Guo Guo.
