"A History of Women in America" was a fabulous book. It was very informative, yet interresting at the same time. It was wonderfully written. I fully enjoyed it. Later, after reading this book, I kept thinking about all of the interesting things women in the past have accomplished. I fully recomend this book!

This was a very interesting book, and a very good starter for people wanting to learn more about women in America. I found it interesting in comparison to New Zealand womens history. I think sometimes the authors concentrated too much on glossing the history, and there are several parts where I wondered if there was some exagerration. But overall, it was a quite well researched and thought provoking book.

A lot of excellent research has been done since 1986 (when this book was published) that has illuminated our understanding of women in America. Sure, this book will give you a general idea of women's history. But it is full of generalities that are unexplained, unsophisticated, and sometimes just wrong. For an understanding of women's lot in America before the women's movement, I recommend Mary Beth Norton's "Liberty's Daughters", or Laura Ulrich's "Good Wives." In these books you will find a much more nuanced telling of women's history, and a history that is footnoted to boot -- so we know where the author is getting her information.

This book was required reading for my first Women Studies Course in college . I recommend it for any woman (or man) in our world who is looking for a general guide to women's history in the United States. It is very straightforward and thought-provoking. This book goes to prove that the liberties American women have are unequaled in our world today. I have shared my copy with friends and relatives over the years who have also enjoyed the commentary.

I bought this book for a History class but I really enjoyed reading it. I learned a lot of fascinating things about women that are not included in the regular History books.

I loved this book. It taught me about the history of women. It was extremely well written. I didn't have to do a lot of searching it was right at my fingertips. I enjoyed it. To tell you the truth I would not recommend another book on womens history. So read and enjoy. The factuality will definately be of use!

This book was a required reading for a class that I was inrolled. I was required to only read sections. I found this book to be interesting enough I read it from cover to cover.
