From School Library Journal
Grade 4-6-Four short chapters discuss the girls who made the first accusations that started the witch-hunt, other accusations that followed, the trials, and what happened after the scare was over. The numerous color photographs are stills from the 1996 movie The Crucible; students might recognize the actors, although they are not named. Zachary Kent's The Story of the Salem Witch Trials (Children's, 1986; o.p.) is similar in length, provides helpful background information on life in Puritan New England, and is more engaging. However, this newer title will be useful for libraries that need more volumes on this popular topic.

"These two titles from the
History of the World series offer basic introductory information suitable for middle-school report writers. Both titles make use of relatively large print, short chapters with section headings, and frequent, crisp, mostly color illustrations. These make acceptable choices for larger collections or where demand for these topics is high."
