It took me several years to find this book again, but thanks to the internet and Amazon I have. I encountered this book in college in the early 70s and have used Donald Gawronski's definition for history for over 30 years as a teacher. ALL my students not only memorize it, but learn to understand what it means on the first day of class. For years after graduation, if I meet a former student on the street, the first thing out of their mount is "The interpretive study of the recorded facts..."

Dr. Gawronski's book on how we study and interpret history is a must read for all those studying history. His understanding of methodology and historiography are brilliant.
