It has EVERYTHING and its easy to read,
By jonnyB (Newport Beach, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hit the Ground Crawling: Lessons From 150,000 New Fathers (Paperback)
I've gotten a couple of books for new dads from relatives and friends, Hit the Ground Crawling being one of them. The cover really stood out to me because of the picture; I'm having a boy. The other books I've read seemed to concentrate on being funny and made the dad out to be an idiot whereas Hit the Ground Crawling is comprehensive and respectful (yet still easy-to-read and funny). It also went far more indepth with how to deal with and help my wife than any other book, probably the best part. I owe the majority of my confidence to this book; just knowing that most of my concerns are actually very common helped out a lot. I highly recommend Hit the Ground Crawling if you're serious about getting information.

Daddy Basics - What a concept!,
By B. Kuhl "Baby Enthusiast" (Foothill Ranch, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hit the Ground Crawling: Lessons From 150,000 New Fathers (Paperback)
I heard about this book at a party and bought it for my girlfriends husband (they were expecting their first). Before giving it to him I reviewed the Table of Contents and started reading different chapters. Before I knew it - I had read the entire book.
This book is the basics of what everyone should know - but men have been afraid to discuss before. Heck - women won't even talk about most of this. Now when I go to baby showers I buy this for the men and something for the expecting mom. This book is fabulous to read - whether you already have kids, are expecting, or will be a grandpa or uncle. If only a women would write a book now for what women really need to know about pregnancy and are afraid to talk about.

Don't look any further for what you need to know about new fatherhood! This book is like a resource guide to everything you want to know and it's written in "guy-speak", so it's fun and informative at the same time. PS, my wife liked it too!

This book is one of the best books out there if you are a new dad. I refered to many sections of the book before our baby was born. It came in very handy for these times. Many of the quotes throughout the chapters helped me to realize that I am not the only one that has been in that position. Easy read and very helpful!
The cover picture is great!!

The truth about being a dad,

This review is from: Hit the Ground Crawling: Lessons From 150,000 New Fathers (Paperback)
This is the best gift for a new father. Hit the Ground Crawling is full of truth, plenty of laughs and advice concerning the 2 new people in your house--baby and mom. I had no idea what was in store for me with the crying, mood swings, and tantrums...and the baby was challenging as well! I've purchased this for my friends and they all thank me. It's the best new dad book out there.

As first-time parents, we were pretty green... like many out there, books were one of our principle sources of information. I wanted my husband to accompany me in the 9-month journey and when looking out there for anything hip & cool & "man-centric" i couldn't find anything interesting... until i found this. The cover grabbed my attention. The content was even better. I looooved the fact that it was written by and for men, from their perspective. It wasn't a female perspective transposed to a book for men. My husband thought it was cool that i offered it. He's a pretty avid reader to start so i didn't have to convince him at all. He dove into it and read it voraciously. We both loved the punchy, concise, no-jazz, no fluff style of writing. It's a "guy's guy" book says my husband. He told me that what it did for him was 1) prepare him mentally to what was coming; 2) made him understand exactly what i was going through emotionally and physically; 3) gave him a good picture as to what his role could be and what he could concretely do to help and support me, the pregnancy, the birth and the baby. What he appreciated the most was the "guy's lingo" and tone it was written in. He recommended it at pre-natal class and other guys bought it and thanked him after... that speaks loads if you ask me!

My favorite part is the Troubleshooting Guide for Crying Babies,
By DaddyOfMax (North Los Angeles) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hit the Ground Crawling: Lessons From 150,000 New Fathers (Paperback)
Talk about a wealth of information. I got this book as a present a few months before my first son was born. It was very helpfull for me to get better prepared for what was coming.
My favorite part though is the troubleshooting guide for crying babies. It has helped me many times. Over time you build a routine of the checklists to taking care of your baby. When Max would cry I would run down the checklist in my mind of all the things that could be bothering him. Every now and then I would get out the troubleshooting guide...and get reminded of something I hadn't checked. Very helpfull. I recommend this book as a gift for new fathers. Lets face it, guys are not the first to hit the bookstore and get a new book. Help them get the info they need....gift the book to the new dads in your life.

Being a recent new father I bought all the books out there. This is easily the best. Clear, well written. Organized sections. Covers everything - and i mean everything, including how to deal with what your wife/partner is going through. Excellent book.
