Great info and easy to read,
This review is from: Hit the Ground Running: A Woman’s Guide to Success for the First 100 Days on the Job (Hardcover)
If you are an ambitious woman in the financial industry, you'll find this book useful. Even if you are short on time, just flip through the pages, read the "Jumpstarters", then check out the lists at the end of each chapter. I learned a lot in less than an hour.

Outstanding Resource,
This review is from: Hit the Ground Running: A Woman’s Guide to Success for the First 100 Days on the Job (Hardcover)
This book is the best pratical guide to professional success and achievement I have ever read--bar none. Liz Cornish looks at the real challenges facing women in leadership positions and provides them specifics for step by step success. Every woman going into (or already in) a leadership position should read this book.

The byline does not do the book justice.....it is a book for women LEADERS not just women. It's easy-to -skim, easy-to-read and loaded with anecdotes, bullets, "quick hits" of wisdom and checklists. Any single page is worth the price of the book.

I am finding this book a wonderful resource for coaching newly promoted leaders (many in health care). In the book, Cornish writes that the book intends to be a "thoughtful whisper in the ear, a reassuring pat on the back, and - most importantly - a framework for sustainable success". I think she pulled it off!

Great practical tool for rising women,

Cornish has done a terrific job distilling the complexities of a challenging new assignment into clear priorities and actions to be taken. Without being simplistic, she makes a formidable and sometimes confusing landscape seem navigable and exciting. Practical and well-organized, this is a must read.
While written for women, men will find much of this material relevant as well.

This books is a must for new and middle-level women managers. For the newbies, it provides insight into the dynamics of challenges women face in the workplace. For middle-level managers, it is a reminder of the things you forgot (or didn't know in the first place) and helpful in breaking bad habits you initially picked up in your early years. As a former HR Exec, I would provide the book during company orientation to women who are entering management.

relevant, smart & fast read,
This review is from: Hit the Ground Running: A Woman’s Guide to Success for the First 100 Days on the Job (Hardcover)
Loved the format! It's easy to read. You can just flip through the pages and pick up a lot of useful, relevant info. I'm not a "self-help book" person, but make the exception with this one. If you are new to any leadership challenge, it's worth reading. By the way, don't let the by-line fool you....it is a leadership book.

An excellent "How to manage" book,
By LA Pederson "LAP" (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hit the Ground Running: A Woman’s Guide to Success for the First 100 Days on the Job (Hardcover)
I was skeptical at first, thinking Hit the Ground Running would be too generic for my unique situation in healthcare. However, Cornish does a great job of getting beyond broad concepts to the "do this, think about that and watch out for this" practicalities. It doesn't replace good judgement, but it will save you from wasting time or making stupid "take charge" mistakes.
