Saafir was supposed to put this out about 2 years ago, but the label ran out of stock, so after 2 years I finally purchased it. Both different than Boxcar Sessions and Trigonometry, The Saucy Nomad brings yet another style to the ears. "Smart Bomb" is the dopest song I have ever heard, hearing it about 2 years ago on college radio, I have been waiting to hear it again. although the beats are different than his last two albums, his flow is tighter than ever. definitely recommended for underground heads who know of Saafir's talent already.

One thing I like about Saafir is his rhyme style. With his monotone voice and distinctive off-beat rhyming is one of the reasons why I enjoy listening to him. He has done good jobs when he has appeared on Digital Underground's The Body-Hat Syndrome and on Xzibit and Ras Kass' albums. And his debut album Boxcar Sessions was dope. His third album The Hit List, is a solid album, that doesn't standout too well. The problem doesn't hold in Saafir, or the guest appearances. It's the production. It just doesn't keep my attention. Couple that with Saafir's monotone voice, and you have a boring album. Majority of these songs here, the production here is hit or miss, depending on how you feel when you are listening to it.

"Hit List" is the title track is a solid track that doesn't standout because lack of the track's excitement. "A Dog's Master" is one of the better produced tracks, done by Clark Kent. The track has an east coast vibe that will keep your attention, and Saafir spits flames on it too. "Crawl Before You Ball" fails to standout in my opinion. The next track "Watch How Daddy Ball" featuring Kam sounds above average. "Slip Into My Eyes" has a weak and unteresting beat, and Saafir doesn't too much with the track. "6 Digits" featuring Cutthroat and Mr. Doe is a solid track with great lyrics. "Not Fa' Nothin'" featuring Chino XL would have been great, but the beat on the song sounds so weak that it makes the entire track sound weak. "Pokerface" would be a standout to me, as Saafir kicks some dope rhymes over some good production. The next track "25 Ta Life" sounds dope. "Mask-A-Raid" featuring Jayo Felony sounds solid in my opinion. The lyrics by Jayo and Saafir makes the song great. "Liquid Ho Magnet" produced by Shock G. sounds great in my opinion. "Smart Bomb" is unique video game sounding track was Saafir flies in video game titles into his rhymes that sounds good. "Bedroom Bully" is a weak sex track that doesn't keep my attention. "Runnin' Man" is a dope track that I like. The album closes off with "Final Thrill" which is solid.

The Hit List is a solid album. Unfortunately, like his Golden State Warrior members' early albums (such as Ras Kass' Soul on Ice), majority of the album suffers from poor production. I never understood why artists like Saafir who is a dope emcee go after those kind of beats, because they can severely weigh down their albums. The best tracks are the ones done by Shock G. ("Liquid Ho Magnet" and "Runnin' Man"), and the one by Clark Kent ("A Dog's Master"). Other than that, the tracks are hit or miss. I recommend that you find this album used, if you are curious of how it sounds. Peace.

This is yet another dope album by the "skanless" Saucee Nomad otherwise known as Saafir. However, to say that this album is better than Trigonometry and Boxcar Sessions is a pretty bold statement. Saafir did a great job of making this album sound completely different than his previous two masterpieces. If you're a big fan of Xzibit and Ras Kass, and if you like the songs they do with Saafir, then you'd probably like The Hit List more than Saafir's other albums. With this album, I think he draws one step closer to the champion status of Kool Keith and Del the Funky Homosapien. For those who like good rap (you know who you are), but this album...

Pretty amazing lirycs and beats from Saafir" the hit list" and if you want to hear something fresh & difirent ? I highly recommend it! A def street banger! Best tracks ? "mask-a-raid" , "25 ta life" and, "smart bomb" for real headz.

One of my favorite MC's of all time (SAAFIR) drops illness from start to finish. His unique way of wordplay fits perfectly into his production which by the way is dope. A HIP HOP CLASSIC! A+

This is a solid album from Saafir, but I don't think he's strong enough to make a really strong album by himself. Saafir has a deep, broad voice and a deliberate, occasionally mechanical flow. To me he sounds like a street version of Aesop Rock, or Kam (who guests on "watch how daddy ball")if Kam had less flavor.
Not a bad CD, but nothing exceptional either. It would be a nice addition for the collection but don't except an album worth hundreds of spins.

Ras Kass and Saafir are the illest. Xzibit is ok...but too mainstream...

Saafir has "retired" but that might not be true...hopefully next album will come out soon. ill methapors

LAST 2 CD'S BANGING. THE HIT LIST IS EVEN BETTER THAN THE PREVIOUS CD'S. SAAFIR IS A WEST COAST SLEEPER ON THE EAST. I LET MY PARTNERS HEAR IT NOW IS'S MISSING. BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE IT'S EVEN MORE BANGING.
