This review is from: Hit Me With Your 80's Box! (Audio CD)
I mix 80s dance music and the number of times when mixing that I find myself reaching for either this compilation or its companion, "I Want My 80s Box," is extraordinary. These are two outstanding collections. They are pricey, but worth every penny. For many people, owning these two will be all the 80s music you'll ever need.
Fidelity is outstanding, the tracks are well organized more or less chronologically, and the sequences in which tracks are placed is excellent. The "box" itself in which the 3 CDs come is sturdy, it is easily folded out in part or in whole to access any of the CDs quickly and easily (unlike many multi-CD offerings). Liner notes are extensive and interesting. This offering is a class act all the way. Highly, highly recommended. 7 stars.

"Memories from your world of the '80s",
This review is from: Hit Me With Your 80's Box! (Audio CD)
Step up and meet the Second Volume from Universal Music/Hip-O, nicely remastered and loaded with "must-have-music" for your growing '80s collection. Some ground breaking selections are highlighting "HIT ME WITH YOUR 80's BOX!", most of the 46 Tracks playing in my head, bring back so many wonderful and worthwhile memories.Even though there are many missing, this collection hits some of the high spots with "HOLDING BACK THE YEARS"(Simply Red) ~ "BROKEN WINGS"(Mr. Mister) ~ "DRIVE"(The Cars) ~ "MANEATER"(Hall & Oates), each song with the original artist interpretation is "right on", know other compilations are out there in the vast world of '80s releases...this one hits the mark and lives up to its predecessor "I WANT MY 80's BOX!"[...] gives you a reason to face the everyday Hum-Drums...with both volumes it's Party Time, gotta love it! You might try other Universal/Hip-O releases ~ "Essential'80s:1985-1989" [...]..."The '80s Hits Back![...]..."Essential'80s:1980-1984"[...], all worthy of a good listen. Total: 3-CD-Collection [....]

Hit me with your 80's Box! (Hip-O records - 3 CD set): While this is a very fine, and very entertaining, collection of 80's hits, there was certainly room here for more than 14 songs a disc (in fact, they could have put all of this on 2 discs). However, the selections of songs are very good. This is a pop set and it does not represent the emerging Rap music of the era, which may be a plus or minus depending on your view on Rap music. This is a Good set, which can be made much better if you buy their previous 3 CD set that Hip-O titled "I Want My 80's Box!" Together, these made a superb collection.
Four Stars for this set (Five Stars for the combination of this and their previous set).
