Disgusting.,

This review is from: Hit Him Where It Hurts: The Take-No-Prisoners Guide to Divorce--Alimony, Custody, Child Support, and More (Paperback)
If you buy this book, your spouse is the better person. The Author appeared on the Montel Williams show, and that is about the level we are dealing with here. If you are that sort of person, this book is for you.

I understand how this book would make someone feel "dirty", but seriously some of us have respect for the law, the truth, honor & integrity, only to have found ourselves smacked with the cold hard reality that our spouse has NO consideration for any of those things. What then? Do I let my alcoholic spouse run around in desperation telling everyone I'm a drug addict so that he could be awarded custody and avoid child support/wage garnishment? And let him seal up all of our accounts since I always trusted him with his name only on the "business" accounts? Let him believe that the business we built together is results in "his own income", while "I should get my own job" so that I have my own income? But also doesn't believe that he should pay for some training after 10 years of falling behind in technology, supporting him, and raising children? Some of us NEED this book because we were naive enough to fall for and trust someone who turned out to be a lazy, back stabbing, honorless jerk, who would much rather lie his A** off and trash the person who was their best friend for 10 yrs, than pay child support. Shower-needers? You should thank your lucky stars you didn't get dragged down into this muck. Those of us already in there never planned on it, but still need to get out.

I read some of the other reviews for this book and was totally frightened, just not frightened enough to keep from buying it. And I made the right decision. As it turns out, this book does not at any point tell a divorcing woman to lie, do anything illegal, or even act in a mean-spirited way. I think a couple of these reviewers only read the title, and the title isn't an accurate description- it's a total exaggeration meant to help sell more books. This book is full of great advice and walks people through a complicated and painful process. It advises women to be prepared for the worst, but it also makes a point of telling women how much better things are when they make an effort to mediate, negotiate, and compromise. It's not really about hitting anybody where it hurts and more about making sure your divorce doesn't mean letting your unscrupulous ex-husband take everything. In fact, it occurs to me that that's probably what's bothering the negative reviewers. Maybe they think if they trash the book enough wives will just roll over and take any deal they're offered in a divorce? Attention angry he-man woman-haters posting before me: Just so you know, making dumb comments in the Amazon reviews won't really make a dent in the number of ladies reading this book. Also, you need to let go of whatever has you throwing your weird little e-tantrums. This isn't healthy. Seriously though, you should get this book if you're going through a divorce. Even if you're a dude. Just switch the pronouns around. It's helpful.

This review is from: Hit Him Where It Hurts: The Take-No-Prisoners Guide to Divorce--Alimony, Custody, Child Support, and More (Paperback)
This book requires a bath to follow you will feel so dirty. Its not about empowering yourself. Its about screwing over your ex. I do not recommend it for anyone with a backbone and self-esteem.

Great read... FOR SINGLE MEN!,
This review is from: Hit Him Where It Hurts: The Take-No-Prisoners Guide to Divorce--Alimony, Custody, Child Support, and More (Paperback)
An absolute must read for all single men. It should be required by law to have read this book before obtaining a license to wed. Soooo, I guess I should give it 5 stars?

DON'T LET YOUR HUSBAND SEE THIS BOOK!
A wonderfully well-organized book with all the secrets you need on your side if you are contemplating divorce or separation. Even if you think you will have a no-conflict situation (or ESPECIALLY if you think so), you need to read this book. Ms. Donovan is an experienced matrimonial lawyer who sets forth and breaks down all the possible situations, so that you will know what to expect, and how to deal if/when each situation arises. This book is written in conversational language that explains and demystifies all the legalese in a very helpful glossary. Also includes worksheets to start to organize your thoughts. Throughout the book, Ms. Donovan's goodwill and desire to empower women shines through. She makes sure women will have the same ammunition to fight for their rights as men traditionally have had. Highly recommended!

Excellent Resource on Divorce and Family Law,
This review is from: Hit Him Where It Hurts: The Take-No-Prisoners Guide to Divorce--Alimony, Custody, Child Support, and More (Paperback)
As an attorney, I know all too well how important it is to have a thorough understanding of legal issues and proper representation. Too many people are afraid to ask questions for fear of appearing ignorant. This book is a must-read for anyone contemplating separation, divorce, or child custody issues.
Ms. Donovan's practical, easy-to-understand advice will guide the reader through the often precarious minefields of understanding and defending her rights, whether she is representing herself or working with a lawyer. The worksheets and tips enable readers to directly participate in their cases and anticipate the issues that will inevitably arise.

How I married Mr. Wonderful and dumped such a loser and can I hang onto his wallet for the rest of his life. Get on with the rest of your life. To say that there's a 45% loss of income is plain good math ! 100% - 50% = 50%, I learned this in 3 grade.

Most informative and an easy read!,

After 15 years of marriage and together nearly 20-I had to kick my husband out of the house. While he was gone I got this book. I was not crazy about the title of the book, but got it anyway because it got good reviews. I have to say it really is a GREAT source of info and encourages women to stay strong and stay the course. Divorce is NOT what is used to be in the 80's and earlier. Gone are the days when women get thousands per month in child support so better get in the game, get strong and most of all stay informed. This book was a huge help in letting the reader know what could happen or what will likely happen next. (My husband is back-and Im hiding this book, but will still be taking step to protect myself....just in case....)
