From the Manufacturer

It's all about Power

Your LED light strips won't be noticed if they don't have power. Provide them what they need with our selection of power supplies, from small wall-mounted units, large multi-strip transformers, and convenient, portable battery packs. Your LEDs are an investment - treat them as such with a high quality HitLights power supply.

What does it all mean?

Voltage

Voltage is a measure of electrical potential. US and Canadian household power is supplied at 110 Volts AC (alternating current). Our LED strip lights run on 12 Volts DC (direct current).

Wattage

Wattage is a measure of power. LED strip lights will require a specific amount of power to run, measured in watts. The power requirement of your strips should not exceed the capacity of your adapter!

UL-Listed

Underwriters Laboratories are a nationally recognized organization, performing safety and quality testing on behalf of Federal agencies including OSHA. Many of our adapters are UL-Listed.

How to choose a Power Supply:

  • Determine your required wattage (Most LED strip lights display this as Watts per foot)
  • Determine any special requirements you have (Should it be weatherproof? Should it be portable? Do you plan on using a wall dimmer?)
  • Double check! Are your wattage numbers accurate. Are your input (110 AC) and output (12 DC) voltages accurate?
  • You're done. Get to lighting.

110 Volts In

All of our power supplies run on 110 Volts AC - Standard US and Canada wall power.

12 Volts Out

All of our power supplies output 12V DC - exactly the amount our LED strip lights require.

Dimmable

All of our power supplies are compatible with dimmers, either 12V DC or 110V AC varieties

UL-Listed

Our power supplies are high quality and backed by a 1 - 5 year warranty. Our most popular models are also UL-Listed.

Direct Wall Plug Adapters Desktop Adapters High Power Adapters Dimmable Drivers Portable Battery Pack Weatherproof Adapers
Description Direct wall plug adapters are small, and plug directly into a standard wall power supply. Desktop adapters are larger, higher power units that feature a cabled wall connection. High power adapters can run mutiple rolls of LED strip light from one power source. Dimmable drivers utilize electronics to dim our LED light strips with a 110V AC wall dimmer. Portable battery packs can power your LED light strips wherever you do not have access to a power source. Weatherproof Adapters are designed and rated for outdoor use - they can be used in damp or wet locations.

Before ordering this item, I noticed several recent reviews wherein purchasers stated that this power supply was DOA or failed shortly after placed into service. But I rolled the dice anyway, and paired the supply with a LED strip, also from HitLights. Within the first 15 minutes of use, the power supply failed. Not completely surprising, but still disappointing; good thing Amazon makes the return process easy. Instead of taking a chance on a replacement, I purchased an alternative power supply that has performed reliably for several weeks of use.

After reading the questions here I felt compelled to post. To people who ordered and the device was " DOA, or died shortly after connecting it to a string of RGB LEDs let me caution you the device has a 2000 ma / 2 Amp capacity. Tri color LED strips can draw up to 6 Amps far above the capacity of this supply. This supply would probably work fine on single color strips.
Tri color strips or RGB strips, have effectively three different strips of LEDS, EACH OF WHICH CAN DRAW NEARLY 2 AMPS. please take this information into consideration when buying this device. A little more information, 12 watts is 1 amp at 12 volts DC. Therefor if a device draws or can source 24 watts that means 2 Amps. I hope this is helpful !

Works as expected. It works well for powering small segments of LEDs. Since it is only 2 amps it can not power full length strips of (16ft 300LEDs) at full brightness. It can be used but it will heat up, shorten life, and dim the LEDs.

When buying any Hitlight product, I highly recommend using Amazon. While the Hitlight products are great when they work as advertised, their problem is they don't always work. To-date, I've had one bad LED strand and one bad 12V DC power supply. However, by using Amazon with their stellar return policy, it made the exchange relatively painless (and very quick).

Thus, only because of Amazon, I would recommend this product.

This is just a standard power supply to power a roll of LED lights. I dont use it anymore because i got a 4 amp version to power 2 rolls. When i used this one, it worked fine.

After about 7-10 minutes the LED string it was powering began to blink on and off. The transformer was VERY hot. You couldn't keep a fingertip on it for more than a few seconds.

This is the vendor suggested transformer for the string it was powering, so that's not the issue.

Returning and getting a replacement. I'll hope it was (as noted in other reviews) just a bad one.

Update Nov 5, 2013 ==================

The replacement unit had exactly the same issue within 15 - 20 minutes of being plugged in. I'm returning it for a refund.

As mentioned in another review, this transformer works better. It's been powering the same 300 SMD5050 LED string for two hours without a glitch, and the casing is only warm.

Confirmed transformer is 12VDC. Label only identifies transformer as 12V 2A (as shown in photo).
Cable is 2-molded wire (vs 1 solid round cord). Easy to strip wire as pigtails for a terminal block connection. Unit received was correctly made (white marked wire +, unmarked - ). Always a good idea to check before connecting equipment

Cons:
Power cord is shorter than desired.
No power indicator LED like some other transformers for visual confirmation.

I bought this at Amazon together with the flexible LED light strip for the closet which was recommended by many others. For some reason, if you plug this without the LED hooked up to it, it makes this whirring sound. So I refrained from doing that, and it worked just fine. Weeks later, it just stopped working and it wouldn't turn on the light. I tried other adapter with lower voltage (9V) and it seems to work better. But this was a waste for me.
