Hitachi's Greatness !!!!!!!!!,
By Joe Injian (Monrovia, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hitachi 43FDX20B 43-Inch Projection HD-Ready Monitor/TV (Electronics)
I bought this TV from Circuit City, after debating what brand should I get. Actually, Sony, Panasonic, and Hitachi were my best choices, but after seeing the picture on this set, nothing could tell best than your own eyes. I was amazed how deep were the colors, brigh was the picture and most importantly how fast do they service you, and over all 10/10. Plus it's a great value for such a beatifull set. My recomandation; BUY IT !!!!!

Hitachi projection TVs are garbage!!!,

If you want to throw away a lot of money, this is the TV for you! You could just mail your money to me as it would be a better use of it, but I doubt you want to do that. I fell victim to a Hitachi projection TV. It is a little over two years old and is ready for the landfill. Don't believe me? Search Hitachi projection television and see for yourself. They are great televisions when new, but once they hit the two year mark you should start looking for a new TV!

Good Use Of Money,

I bought this TV 6 years ago, 2002, and have not had a problem with it. The color and sound has been great, I purchased a screen protector for it, and that has been the only money I have spent on it. I'm looking to sell it, as me and my wife are down sizing, moving from a house to a Condo. The cost of the TV was 2,000.00 looking for a reasonable price to sell it for. The new TV I purchase will be another Hitachi.

Don't buy a Hitachi HDTV,
This review is from: Hitachi 43FDX20B 43-Inch Projection HD-Ready Monitor/TV (Electronics)
We have had this TV for three years. Two days ago red swirl lines appeared across the screen. It is impossible to get someone to come and take a look at the TV and Hitachi customer service was no help. After reading other comments from customers, it is clear that other Hitachi customers are having the same issues. We spent 2 grand on this TV and are extremely disappointed and will never buy another Hitachi.

GOOD GOING BAD,

3 years of good service, convergence issues, now 2 output amps
are out. Green starts in lower left and right ok, then is two inches above in middle of screen, like a small curve, service tech says these last 2 - 5 years before amps go out. I've got nearly $300 in repairs and still not fixed yet. Paid 2 grand new.

Great TV,

I have had the tv for about 6 months now. It has a great picture! I generally use my surround sound when it is on. I have Dish Network HDTV and get some local channels that broadcast in HDTV too thanks to the 811 receiver. You will never go back to "regular" tv again.

Good But Shows Some Flaws,
By Keith Doyle (Panama City, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hitachi 43FDX20B 43-Inch Projection HD-Ready Monitor/TV (Electronics)
I've owned this HDTV for 1 year and 6 months. I won't get into too many details about the TV's specifications. The picture is good; the sound is good; and there's a smorgasbord of customization features. Now let me describe the three problems I have with it: My model comes with a plastic cover over the screen which causes some glare from light sources. This cover cannot be removed without taking the TV apart. Newer models of the same TV don't have the cover, so this may not apply to all prospective buyers. After using the TV for a while I noticed these curved black lines across the middle of the screen. They're largest at the edges of the screen and get smaller as they approach the center until they're nonexistent. They're always there but aren't easily visible. I was practically looking for imperfections before I saw them and they're unnoticeable against dark images. Finally, there seems to be something wrong with the color. I don't know if this is a growing problem or if it's been there all along. The bottom-left corner of the screen has a blue shift to it and the top-right corner has a red shift. It's as if the red & blue color convergence is out of adjustment. Manually changing said convergence doesn't help much. It might've always been like that and I just didn't notice before, I don't know. These two problems may simply be flukes to which only my TV suffers. Also, keep in mind that I am a videophile perfectionist and my reviews for such products are strict.

Our first HDTV,

I love ours. The owner's manual is fairly well written, once you are used to using the remote it is easy to get where you want to go. It has 5 different sets of hook ups at the rear and 1 set on the front for configuring your system however you want it to work. The only awkward thing is the on screen display of suggested system hook ups, rather difficult to see when you are BEHIND the television. We don't have a large living room so it is not overpowering and at the same time it is easy to see from everywhere in the room. Remote can control your DVD player or VCR, though I may have to call Hitachi to see if it can be programmed to control my particular DVD player. Video adjustments are easy to do and may be programmed into the television itself. Everyone who has come over and seen it loves it. I hated to spend this kind of money but now I am glad I did - we were originally going for a 35" HDTV when the missus saw this one and fell in love with it. Only possible drawback will be if the competing HDTV signal processor is the winner, then we will have to buy an adaptor to make full use of this system. The audio is good though we usually run the sound through our surround sound receiver to preserve the speakers on the television - especially for those extra loud action/drama movies. I did not even mention the 3 way picture-in-picture with its "freeze" mode, handy for writing down addresses and recipes off the screen without using a VCR to tape the information.
