The Virtual HD functionality upconverts conventional NTSC sources to HD specifications and smoothly corrects for motion artifacts that may have been introduced into the original film or video sources. It has a 16:9 aspect ratio as well as a 4:3 mode.
In addition to controlling all the functions on the 43FWX20B projection TV, the remote control is designed to operate different types of VCRs, CBL (cable TV) converters, satellite receiver, DVD players, and other audio/video equipment with one touch.
It has a built-in 181-chanel NTSC tuner; you'll need a separate HTDTV tuner to receive high-definition broadcasts. The 43FWX20B incorporates dual-tuner picture-in-picture technology, which allows you to view antenna inputs on both the main picture and subpicture simultaneously, with separate tuning control for each.
This set features front A/V and S-VHS input jacks for connecting a game console, VCR, or S-VHS camcorder. The rear features 2 S-video inputs, 2 composite A/V inputs, 2 component-video inputs, 2 RF inputs, 1 audio output, and S-video and A/V monitor outputs.
Tech Talk
Aspect ratio: The aspect ratio refers to the shape of the video image. Standard television has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is almost square in appearance. Digital television will have either a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio, which is widescreen and appears rectangular, looking more like a movie screen and filling more of the viewer's field of vision for a more lifelike viewing experience.
Scanning method: Frames of video are made up of many lines of video that are scanned onto a television screen so closely they appear to be a solid picture. The scanning method can be either interlaced or progressive. Interlaced scanning (also used in today's analog TV), indicated by an "i" in the video format, fills in the odd number lines (1,3,5,7...) and then fills in the even number lines (2,4,6,8...) until the frame is complete. Progressive scanning, "p," fills in each line consecutively until the frame is complete, like a computer display.

Tied for the best on the market,
By
This review is from: Hitachi 43FWX20B 43-Inch 16:9 Projection HD-Ready Monitor/TV (Electronics)
As a former salesman of big screens, this one is easily tied for my favorite with the Mitsubishi 46" HDTV widescreen. Mitsubishi has an edge on color and lighting, Hitatchi has the edge on clarity and overall realism due to the most lenses on the market.First off, this TV is complex, yet simple. Plenty of features and inputs, but simple enough for anyone to use. The Magic focus is a great example. Hit one button and the TV automatically sets the convergence. Next is the size. One needs to know the stand built for this TV sells seperatly...so that's one thing to consider before you buy. If you get the stand, you'll quickly notice how much easier it is moving a two piece system into your home instead of a solid one piece TV. While small in comparision to a lot of HDTV's on the market, this TV still looks huge once you get it into your home. And with the quality of the picture, you'll be glad you didn't get a larger TV for the same price from some lower quality brand. I'll admit, sound isn't the greatest. But if you're buying an HDTV, you should be investing in surround sound anyways. Another huge feature this TV has that most brands don't is an auto refresh not found on earlier models and other brands. Basically, if you're watching something in 4:3 mode with bars on the side, the TV automatically refreshes the bars constantly so that they don't get burned into the screen. It's constant too so you don't even notice. Overall, this is a great buy. Compare it to the Mitsubishi. Decide which is better for you. I can guarentee you won't be disappointed.

I have had this tv for about 2 weeks now and love it too death. The picture is excellent and the sound is strong. I find myself with the volume bar on around 23 out of 60.This was not my first choice, the Sony 46wt500 was but after my wife saw the Hitachi she persuaded me to change my mind and after reviewing the specs she helped me make the right choice. Go out and buy today. Remember these reviews don't mean much until you see it in your house and CC helps because you have 30 days to return it if you don't like it.
