THE BEST SLIDER,

This is an improved model of an already great tool! It was always the smoothest running and cutting saw before! Now it has easier to read markings on both bevel and table angle settings. Possitive angle notches in the table. Dual bevel and the belt drive is sooooo nice! The free blade is one of the best out there for cabinet or trim work. Buy it and you'll be hooked! We have used these Hitachi sliders since 1989 and we can't find anything close to it's quality and performance.

I am a medium-level do-it-yourselfer, taking on more and more projects at a 200+ year old house that always needs attention. After replacing windows recently, I needed a saw to cut and complete the casing portion of the job. Rather than continue to beg and borrow from my neighbors, I opted to increase my tool collection. I pored over reviews here and elsewhere and finally decided to take the leap-- to a Bosch sliding compound saw here on Amazon. However, when I saw the hefty shipping/handling charges, and with a price increase moments before I clicked "Buy," I rethought the purchase and opted for the Hitachi from another online vendor with a much more reasonable shipping charge. The saw came quickly and was in fine shape after travelling halfway across the country. I can see with less-than gentle handling the saw could punch a hole in the packaging, but mine survived the trip with no such effect. The saw is relatively compact, not too heavy, and the miters were right on right out of the box. The slide is smooth and the cuts are good. While some have raved about the OEM blade that ships with the saw, I am not 100% thrilled- some cuts have been so-so, making small chips in the pine I was cutting. I also cut some oak base molding, and the cuts were again good, but not perfect. At this point, I want to attribute that to my own learning curve, rather than to the saw or the blade. I want to swap the original blade with a finishing blade I have, to see if there is improvement in the smoothness of the cuts. One gripe, and the reason for the 4 star rating, is with the safety button and handle. I do not have huge hands, and I find it somewhat awkward to depress the safety button and then grab the horizontal D-handle comfortably with the same hand to start the saw. Luckily for me, I am right-handed, as the handle controls are designed that way. Left handers had better be ambidextrous, or especially nimble with their pinky to be able to depress the safety button. Again, it could simply be getting accustomed to the saw. I did not experience this problem when using my friend's DeWalt sliding saw, however. I purchased a Stablemate Plus 100 saw stand (built like a truck) from Amazon, and because the mounting holes on the Hitachi are in a triangular pattern, I had to mount the saw on plywood first in order to then mount it on the saw stand. Not a big deal, but worth noting.

I am restoring my old home, and also spend quite a bit of time helping like-minded family & friends do the same. I have just received my Hitachi C10FSB and overall am very pleased with the purchase. Except for zero degree bevel needing an easy to-do adjustment, all other angles were spot on as delivered. The saw has a great blade, and overall fit and finish is excellent.I was not impressed with was Hitachi's packaging. Upon reciept I could see about 1" of the back of the slider protruding from a small hole in side of the box. Upon opening I found the saw had shifted from its cardboard cutout restraints, allowing the slider to poke out of the box. The bevel was not locked or restrained and was free to flip-flop during shipping. Luckily everything checks out okay. I cannot comment on how competitors package their saws, but as noted in other reviews it is clear that Hitachi does not package their saws for individual home delivery. This is the only thing keeping the C10FSB from getting 5 stars.

Best saw on the market,

I've used several mitre boxes on the market and none are as detailed as the Hitachi slide. It's the only one I know with a dust shield to keep dust off the bevel guage. To me, the best feature is the soft start. My friend that I work with trimming out houses, has just purchased his third one and will not touch another one because of it's work horse features. This influenced me, then using it for a week sealed my decision. The slide motion is also so very soft, especially when you put a liquid silicone on the shaft, it glides with no effort! I'd recommend it to any serious woodworker needing a quality, dependable tool!

I had the little brother before this and thought the best of it with the exception that it could not cut through 4x4 in one cut. This one does that with ease with the added benefit of compounding both ways. I have used several others only to miss mine. Things that could be better in this one and all are lighter weight and quieter. I did not get the laser and probably should have. Perhaps due to the larger blade and the larger throw of the pivot into the wood it's not as easy as the smaller saw to line up the cut on you mark at a steep bevel.

Almost deserves five stars, but just minor design issues. I've had this saw for a few months for a house remodel and it has done great for all kinds of cuts from rough to finish. Pay attention to switch the guide before titling to the left. You'll cut right through it. I have talked to others who have done the same. They should have made it easier to switch.I replaced this after trying a cheap model from Lowes. I will never go back as the cuts are so much easier and better that you will save money in wood and time by going with Hitachi. This machine is built very well. I would buy it again, but hopefully this one will be with me fo a while. Don't bother with the laser model. You don't need it.

This is the slide compund miter to own! I've been using this saw for years and it works flawlessly and lasts through much use and abuse. I decided to get a new one this year because the price and promotions made it hard to pass up.HOWEVER! The saw arrived without any sign of the free extra blade, or the mail in rebate form for a free drill. when I tried to find a phone number to call to get help from amazon...I could not find one any where on their web site, or on my receipt! I submitted two e-mail help requests and got no response. Amazon has really dropped the ball on customer service! I finally called Tool Crib (AKA AMAZON) and got a customer service number from them 800-201-7575 and am in the process of sorting out the extra blade. For the free drill you'll need to print and mail a form found through various links from the saw page. Good luck!

Product was delivered FED Ex with no damage - good choice Amazon, given hitachi's so-so packaging. Ships with 40 tooth blade which is of very limited use. I'm a professional woodworker and bought this tool to "upgrade" from my little old C8FB2, the first slide miter saw. No slide miter can replace a radial arm or table saw for accuracy, but I was hoping to get a little closer than I could get with the 8 inch saw. At first, I was impressed. Most adjustables were right on out of the box. Slide was tight and smooth with acceptable deflection. Power was marginal but OK with a top quality blade that you'd have to purchase extra. Detents are positive and tight, better than the earlier saws. Cuts in 8/4 sapele bogged down with a 12 amp motor but a light trim pass cleaned them up nicely. But here's the rub: any sliding saw carraige has to be aligned perfectly with the blade axis, or the heel or toe of the blade will drag through the cut. The blade will crab it's way along the cut line and you'll never get a clean cut. All cuts will be compromised to some extent. It will show up mostly in cuts through wide boards, but also in slightly out of plane mitres and crosscuts. You can check this on a piece of wide stock by pushing the blade carraige all the way against the stop on the fence side and carefully plunging the blade into the stock to leave a full kerf, then raising the blade, sliding out to the outside edge of the piece and making a sliding cut in to your first cut. The cuts should line up exactly.. If they don't, it may be acceptable in light stock trim work, but not fine woodworking or furniture work. This geometry should be adjustable and checked in the factory. It's not. My old C8 with a new 60 tooth Freud Diablo cuts better. And the C10FSB is made in Japan, not Malaysia or China. Some of my best tooling is from Japan, from mortising cutters to premium saw blades. Maybe it's just my saw, but I'm disappointed. Hitachi is not pursuing the professional market here. I would gladly pay another $200 for the same saw with a little more attention to the basic details, a couple more amps in the motor and a properly aligned blade arbor/slide mechanism. Note that on the big green plastic belt cover is the bold molded in text "COMPOUND MITRE SLIDE SAW." I don't need to be told what I bought. Just "HITACHI" on my old tool said enough. It doesn't mean as much to me now.

I have owned a a Hitachi 12" non slider for 15 years and is still as acurate as the day I bought it. I needed a slider and considered the Millwakee, Dewalt, Portercable ETC. After reading many many reveiews the Hitachi C1oFSB 10" consistently had the highest reviews. The 12" Hitachi slider looked like an over engineered saw in the cosmetics department, a good saw for a hair dresser. Just by looking at it I new I would not be happy with it. The 10" inch on the other hand was just what I was looking for. I have owned this saw now for about 14 months and am completly satisfied. I am a serious wood turner and demand acurracy and get pissed off when i dont get it.

Just bought my second saw. My first one still works great, I just couldn't pass up this great price. This saw cuts strong and true. The problem of the dual bevel system was fixed in this newer version. I use this saw every day and it works great. A plus.
