Compound Feature for Precise Miters and Bevels
Hitachi designed the C12RSH for versatile, easy use. The miter scale ranges between zero and 46 degrees to the left and zero and 57 degrees to the right, and a micro-miter knob lets you dial in precise angles. Additionally, positive miter stops allow you to easily change the angle of the cutting blade for creating miters in crown molding and other trim pieces.

The bevel scale ranges from zero to 45 degrees to the left and right, allowing your material to stay in place while you flip the saw head to make opposing cuts. After your major bevel angle is secured, a micro-bevel adjustment knob can be used to dial in a precise angle, while positive stops allow for quick and easy measurements and settings.

The 12-inch TCT saw blade (included) makes easy work of delicate trim and other woodwork, and the pivoting fence raises a height of 4-11/16 inches to allow for accurate vertical cutting of crown molding and other large workpieces.

Compact Slide System Requires Zero Clearance
With its revolutionary compact slide system, the C12RSH requires no rear clearance like other sliding saws. Hitachi's patented fixed rail system allows the saw head to glide smoothly along twin rails, which stay put and do not protrude to the rear of the saw. The result is a sliding saw that can be operated on a small work surface that has minimal rear clearance, such as up against a wall.

Laser Marker Technology for Perfect Cuts
Hitachi equipped the C12RSH with its exclusive Laser Marker System, which can be activated before the blade is in motion for exact alignment and predictable blade placement. The laser marker is easily adjustable to the left or right of the cut mark to suit your preferences, simply line up the laser with your mark on the workpiece, and the saw blade will make an exact cut along the laser guide. As long as your measurements are right, your cuts will be, too!

Chock-Full of User-Friendly Features
The C12RSH has plenty of features to help you make the perfect cut the first time. To start, it has a powerful 15-amp motor that generates a no-load speed of up to 3,800 RPM to smoothly and easily cut through even the toughest hardwoods.

For precise, safe cutting, a fixed splinter guard increases safety and reduces tear-out for clean, finished cuts, and a comfortable vertical handle with a vibration-reducing elastomer grip prevents slippage and keeps you in control at all times.

The C12RSH also includes a dust bag that minimizes accumulation of dust and particles in your both your workspace and the saw's interior components, keeping your jobsite clean and prolonging the life of the tool. An added bonus, easily accessible carbon brushes will help your saw perform for the long term.

The Hitachi C12RSH measures 23-7/16 x 36-5/8 x 27-15/16 inches and weighs 63.9 pounds. Durably built, this tool is backed by an industry-leading five year warranty.

I will agree with other posts - it is big.

The laser is great for ballparking cuts, however I still like to touch the teeth of the blade to the piece for precision.
Jesse Guardiani
And the saw cut perfect angles right out of the box.

I am a professional woodworker and I purchased this saw specifically for cutting stair skirtboards, for which this saw proved up to the task. I also currently have the Hitachi 10' slide compound sans laser. The laser beam is a little to broad for my liking so I find my eye is still more accurate. Improvements in this saw that I really like are the rack&pinion gearing for dialing "micro adjustments" and the placement of slide tubes up top and to the side. This placement prevents sawdust from being thrown back into the slide tube bearings a big plus. Of course it would be nice if Hitachi would provide an attachnent so that the saw could be hooked up to a two inch vacuum line. Of course the saw is big and bulky but it is a 12 inch so... The setting are a little easier to read than most previous saws and the locks for positioning angle and bevel are solid. The bevel lock is a little awkward to work with but the slip ratchet mechanism helps. I feel that the motor is a little under powered so one has to go slower on cuts. All and all I am pleased with this saw and look forward to comtinued improvemts.

I'm a remodeling contractor working in the finest homes in Washington, DC. I've been using this saw for about three months now. In a nutshell, this saw performs well. The saw cuts perfect miters right out of the (BIG) box. The motor has plenty of power to push through everything I've thrown at it. I work with a lot of talented professionals who all have their own miter boxes but most everyone on site now prefers this saw as the go to. I LOVE! the new fence system with the included hinged sub fence. The sub fence not only flips in or out, it can also be flipped up to create a 10" high fence! I don't no why Hitachi is not shouting this feature out from the rooftops. No other saw that I know of offers a fence system like this. I don't like Hitachi's new look with all of the insignificant and ugly plastic parts (it makes their tools look like a toys). This saw is heavy and bulky. If possible, the saw is best left in its cutting station and not bounced around the job site. I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend this saw to any serious wood worker.

This review does not have to do anything with any specific store. I will only review the C12RSH miter saw tool and customer service pertaining to this brand and experienced by me.
I am a advanced DIY-er, and electrical engineer. I worked my whole life with gears and motors, and I am very passionate about tools. More over, I do keep all my tools in order, clean, organized, oiled and square.
I wanted just to make all of you aware of the hidden defective casting of the turn table. Please, when you open the box look at the turn table from the back side to make sure the casting imperfections are not obvious, it might be a sign of a microscopic crack which sooner or later will give up. That is what happened with mine, after few months (5 to be exact) of light weekend use. I did notice the imperfections when I bought it, but I did not paid attention to them, and now I pay the price. It is the first time for me when a 400$ tool gave up so quickly, the crack on the cast aluminum turn table make this tool useless now.
So, I will try to share all my experience with you. I contacted "Hitachi" customer service few days after I notice the crack, though I was in the middle of an project that required a miter saw. So I bought a 10" miter saw as backup. Hitachi customer representative answered my emails after a week, and when I wanted to send some pictures I took with the cracks and the existing imperfection seems, he refused and send me few shops addresses where I could take it to be evaluated. I was charged 40$ for an evident defect to be evaluated. The mechanic (which is authorized by other brands too) called me after about 4 weeks just to tell me that the tool was abused, and due to this fact, the warranty was voided.

Previously owned a Dewalt "DW715" and I prefer this saw hands down. I am no professional anything, just a hobbiest, week end warrior and home renovator. When my older dewalt was destroyed by mother nature, I went looking for a new saw but listed this one in my "not in my price range" folder, until I ran across the display model for sale at Costco for $350; missing the blade and some of the doodads, they took the price to $300, my price range indeed! Now that I've used it, I can say it should have never been out of my price range, as I'm using it constantly even for tasks I could make do with a simple hand saw, just for the pleasure of using the saw. Sure, it might be more saw than I NEED, but it does everything I need it to do, does it better than the dewalt did, does more than the dewalt did, and is pure pleasure to use. Every moving part moves smoothly; even for the display model, with out any adjustment, it cuts an angle dead on, laser is adjustable (thank goodness); it's rugged, durable, and lighter than the Rigid/Dewalt. I can't tell you about the clamps or blade, (a.k.a. missing doodads) but if the rest of the saw is an indication, they would be ideal as well.

The ONLY con... if you can call it that:
This saw, when fully extended, has slightly more "play" in the arm than say the Rigid, Milwaukee, or Dewalt offerings due to the arrangement of the slide rails, but it takes a decent amount of horizontal force to make it to move at all (even then it only about 1/16" at full extension), use it as intended and you will never know.

Should you buy this saw? If you need a good saw for cutting trim, picture frames, and 10,000 other odd jobs, then yes, yes you should.
