Prior to my actual purchase of this tool I did extensive research on other brands that were in the same price range and this one seemed to have better reviews along with better performance. In actual use it performed as expected especially in the hammer/drill mode in drilling holes in concrete. Very quick, smooth and little, if any vibration through the handle. In switching to the hammer only mode with a flat spade bit it did only an adequate job of breaking up concrete thus it is by no means a substitute for a true demolition hammer.

The one thing that I didn't appreciate is that Hitachi has too many models that appear to be very similar in appearance and in the same price range. It made it difficult to actually determine exactly which model I really wanted to purchase

I've had an older model for 10 years, so when I needed an additional one I had no hesitation buying this one. When I fired it up I was plesently suprised to see how much better this one is. Absolutely a wonderful beast to use if you need to use this type of tool. I haven't had either one fail me yet.

Product worked great initially for both drilling into concrete and chiseling off a very small area of fragile, old-fashioned stucco. Low vibration, and effective. Then all of a sudden it felt like a gear slipped, there was grease coming out By moving from reverse to forward and back, it slipped back into gear, but something was still not right as the chisel bit did not stay locked in position. Waiting to find out on repair options.

I purchased this rotary hammer to drill holes in my concrete pad for anchoring posts. I had some trouble using smaller hammer drills so I figured this would speed up the process. It drilled a clean hole in the concrete w/ no effort. I have only used it once so far, but felt the need to post the review. Vibration was nothing compared to my other drill, and the DH24PF3 was much quieter. I was lucky to pick this up for half price at a big box store clearance sale, but after using it can definitely say it is worth every penny of full price.

I've use it to make lots of 1/2 inch holes with out any problem in concrete. It also drills in cinder block pretty well. the D handle is really nice for handling however it a little bit long so tool weight isnt really balanced too well. It can get hot so attention need to be payed. how ever handle doesent get how so that good.

the chipping is nice for small jobs, i've uses it to clean hollow parts of cinder block when bits get stuck in them. there a locking button very usefull.

Hammer drilled 42 holes, 1/2" diameter, at a 6" depth into a concrete block retaining wall, cells filled with concrete. Wow this thing took about 20 seconds for each hole using a little drizzle of water to keep the Hilti Quad carbide bit head cool (I paid a whopping $50 for this bit but was worth it, lasts longer and cuts faster and I can sharpen the carbide bits). It comes with a nice case and at $168 including shipping and handling, it's a steal!

It works fine at the beginning then it slipped. It's ok for small bit, slip for bits size above 3/8".

Needed a roto-hammer immediately that I could depend on punching a minimum of 2 dozen 5/8" x 12" holes into 50 year old poured concrete footer.
I knew better than to buy the $40 throw away drills. Rental would be the same cost as buying this Hitachi with time and fuel figured in. So I ordered the Hitachi.
Not only is a cool green color, amazing amazon delivered it to my door in 6 hours!
The tool feels solid. It went to work right away and with the appropriate cool down time between holes, it ran all 2 dozen holes with no problems.
Very glad I purchased this Hitachi!
