This review is from: Hitachi FDS12DVA 3/8-Inch 12 Volt Cordless Drill with 2 Batteries, Case and Flashlight (Tools & Home Improvement)
I was overwhelmed by my 9.6 volt Hitachi drill,it has never let me down.I have remodeled two of my homes with the 9.6,now I have the 12 volt model which is even better than the 9.6.It seems to hold a charge longer than any other drill I own(DeWalt,Porter Cable,Makita,Panasonic,Craftsman and Ryobi Professional),I've put them all thru the paces and this drill does it better. It's great for overhead drilling because of it's light weight. The price was great, too. The flashlight is very similiar to my 9.6,exceptional quality.I recommend this drill/driver.

Compaired to all the other major brands of cordless drills on the market this saw is way down on torque value. I compared the torque ratings on the DeWalt(310ft.lbs) and Porter Cable(330ft.lbs) and they have well over a hundred extra foot pounds of torque over this Hitachi drill(193ft.lbs). I bought it anyway thinking that Hitachi was just being more realistic about there drills torque. Well you get what you pay for (when will I ever learn that, especially with tools!) Instead of torque they give you a cheap kit with a magnetic tip holder and a couple of really cheap screw tips. The magnetic holder came apart after 3 uses, and the first tip lasted only 2 screws. Don't get me wrong this is a nice drill for the home owner or really light jobs (you won't drive very many 4 inch screws with this drill), although I actually was able to in low gear. It's a very nice kit and the flash light is a great bonus. For the price it is actually a good deal, I guess I was just expecting a more powerful drill.

This is the drill I reach for. Well balanced, lightweight, long lasting battery.
