Hitachi Ballistic Screws,
By
This review is from: Hitachi 17644 #8 x 2-1/4" Full Round Electro Galvanized Threaded Screw Shank Plastic Strip Ballistic Fasteners 4000 count (Misc.)
Hitachi Ballistic Fasteners - Test run. 1/2 OSB over 2x4 stud. Ballistic Screws fired into test board using Bostitch F21PL framing nailer at 100psi Bostitch F21PL Round Head 1-1/2-Inch to 3-1/2-Inch Framing Nailer with Positive Placement Tip and Magnesium Housing. Amazon sells box of 4000, I was able to pick up a box of 1000 to try them out. Video shows that "ballistic screws" are driven into test piece just like nails, then can be removed and re-installed with a standard cordless screw driver. Only issue is that some screws get driven in crooked. There were paper dots placed on the test piece to determine if the screws would land in the center of the dots or off center. 4 of 8 test shots were off center. One screw removed came out at an angle. Overall a good product. Great for installing OSB / Plywood decking or assembling anything that you want to be able to disassemble later. -Note Like with all Plastic collated fasteners, safety glasses must be worn as the collating shards fly everywhere. |
