Amazon.com Product Description

The Hitachi SDS Max Shank Demolition Hammer has been carefully designed to produce 40 percent more impact energy with 45 percent less vibration, while reducing tool exertion by 30 percent. This means that this demolition hammer hits with maximum force but with minimal vibration, making it a more efficient and less fatiguing tool. Using patented IDI (Internal Double Insulation) technology, this tool has an aluminum housing combined with an injection-molded nylon core to give you all the durability of aluminum with the insulation properties of synthetics.

The demolition hammer is built with a reliable mechanism to prevent idle hammering, which improves the tool's longevity and performance in detail-oriented work. The D-style rear and detachable side handle are covered with a soft elastomer for increased comfort and a non-slip grip. The side handle allows for 360-degree rotation to provide comfortable operation from any angle. A variable lock system makes bit replacement simple and offers 12 different working angles with just a turn of the tool's grip, when used with standard SDS max bits, this tool provides you with a versatile range of chipping angles for maximum effectiveness. This tool measures 17-7/8 inches long, weighs 12 pounds, uses a 8.3 Amp motor for increased productivity, and has a heavy-hitting 9-1/5 foot-pounds impact capacity. The tool kit also includes a 280-millimeter bull point, a hex bar wrench, an injection-molded plastic carrying case, and lubrication grease. This product is backed by a 1-year limited warranty.

Product Description

The lightweight and powerful Hitachi H45MR SDS-Max Shank Demolition Hammer is perfect for the concrete contractor. The H45MR improves on the performance, durability, and operability of its predecessors by producing 40% more impact energy (now the highest in its class), 45% less vibration, and a 30% reduction in tool exertion. Through advanced computer simulation, Hitachis engineers were able to determine the tools optimum striking characteristics. This simulation process allowed Hitachi to produce a hammer that hits with maximum force while minimizing vibration, translating to a reduction in tool and end-user fatigue. The H45MR also incorporates Hitachis patented IDI (Internal Double Insulation) technology, which not only makes this hammer aesthetically pleasing, but also improves durability. IDI incorporates an aggressively designed aluminum housing intertwined with an injection molded inner nylon core. This process provides the durability of yesteryears metal body tools and double insulation characteristics of todays plastic housing tools. In addition, a highly reliable mechanism for preventing idle hammering not only allows the H45MR to perform tasks requiring detailed attention, but it also increases service life by up to three times longer than any of its competitors. The H45MR is equipped with a D-type rear and side handle that are covered with a soft elastomer layer that ensures comfort and provides a non-slip grip. The side-handle allows 360-degree rotation that provides comfortable operation from any angle. A simple variable locking mechanism makes it possible to change the angle of the tool, such as a clay spade or chisel, to one of twelve different settings by simply turning the grip. The H45MR is job-site ready and comes standard with a 280mm bull point, side handle, wrenches, and case.

5.0 out of 5 stars This hammer does the job, March 8, 2007
This review is from: Hitachi H45MR 12-Pound SDS Max Shank Demolition Hammer (Tools & Home Improvement)
This hammer was perfect for my needs. I consider myself a good handyman. I am helping my wife's cousin build a 5K sq ft house. He put a window where we needed a door. The hammer went through six inches of reinforced concrete with 7/8 inch chisel. We scored the sides first with a diamond blade. It took up floor tile like a hot knife through butter. Used two inch scale chisel on tile three inch scale chisel on thin set. I had to hammer out concrete around a tub drain. Hammer is easy to use and control. My first demo hammer. I couldn't be more pleased.

Bought this demo hammer 11/21/07. As expected, all Hitachi tools are true quality tools. Am goign to demo an entire driveway, which will be a good test of the tool's durability. Kind of a cheap jack hammer for the little guy. Not too happy with Amazon though. They advertise that this tool comes with case, tool, case, hex wrench, and grease. As shipped, no grease or hex wrench enclosed. Now have to find grease and tool on my own. Amazon as usual did a poor job shipping the tool. No packing cushion on bottom of box, so by time it got to me had a cracked case from some hard landings on trucks. Major hassle to get returned, so will keep and fix and buy stuff myself. Come on Amazon, do a better job of packing for shipment!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good demo hammer., October 17, 2006

After a full week of research I have decided on this demo drill and I am completely happy with my purchase. It goes through concrete with ease and the included chisel they give you is a nice touch. I am currently starting to demo a basement floor in a early 1900's house and so far it hasn't even broken a sweat. My only small compalaint is about the case. It feels a little flimsy and the tabs that close it are made of rubber. Overall a minor complaint. This is my first Hitachi product and if they make their other tools like this then this one won't be my last one from them.
