I own a roofing company in Michigan and for the past 6 years we have been using Hitachi roofing guns. The best thing about them is they are very durable. They have survived many falls, one from 4 storeis up onto a concrete slab and the only thing wrong with it was the top needed to be tightened back down. just started to take on large roofing projects myself (i used to sub them out)and asked around which gun to buy. the answer was either stanley or hitachi. personally i hate stanley, so went with the nv45. my 1st project with the gun was 27 squares.

I own a roofing company in Michigan and for the past 6 years we have been using Hitachi roofing guns. The best thing about them is they are very durable. They have survived many falls, one from 4 storeis up onto a concrete slab and the only thing wrong with it was the top needed to be tightened back down. These guns operate flawlessly, all they require is daily oiling and the ocasional cleaning and O-ring replacement. In a years time we probably install over 5000 squares of shingles and spend maybe $25 per year on each gun to maitain them. These guns are very easily repaired, just a few bolts to get them apart and within a half hour or so you can replace all of the O-rings and gaskets yourself. Wich saves $$$ and when your in business to make money every bit you save only helps. These guns are built to last and perform consistantly from day 1. The only bad thing is trying to find an air compressor to keep up!

I PERSONALLY OWN 2 OF THESE NAILERS AND THEY ARE BY FAR THE BEST ROOFING NAILER ON THE MARKET. I BOUGHT MY FIRST ONE IN 1990 AND THE LATEST ONE IN 1999. WE RUN BOTH GUNS ON THE JOB AND NOTHING CAN KEEP UP WITH THEM. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A ROOFING GUN, LOOK NO FURTHER!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ferari of roofing guns, January 31, 2001
This review is from: Hitachi NV45AB2 Coil Roofing Nailer (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have been roofing for 15 years and have had my own company for 10 of those years. So tools mean the difference between making a profit or just making it. I owned a few differnt brands of guns for 4 years. When I bought my first Hitachi roofing nailer I wanted to return it right away because it was so much different than any other gun I've used. Boy am I glad I did'nt do that, they are so reliable and the action is so true and fast. Other guns are sloppy in the nose gear and have slow response. When you are putting down 2-3 squares an hour you can't afford delays. We own 4 of the Hitachi's now. I have been very satisfied with the speed and handeling of these guns. Therefore I dub them THE FERARI OF ROOFING GUNS

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the best, November 26, 2000
This review is from: Hitachi NV45AB2 Coil Roofing Nailer (Tools & Home Improvement)
I don't personally enjoy roofing.I normally sub that part of the job out. One thing I have noticed is that every reputable roofing company I have seen uses this gun. As the toolpig I asked why. The comments are always the same. This is the best gun money can buy. It is simply the most dependable and most consisent coil nailer on the market. With its overwhelming popularity I never considered any other gun. I bought one to have on hand for small jobs and have never had any trouble with it. I have lent it out several times and so far everyone has loved using it. I highly recommend it.

Easy to load, easy to carry, seldom jams. What more could anyone ask for. This gun has it all and the price is right. If you need a rugged tool for daily use, there is none better than this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST gun I've ever had!!, October 9, 2000

I've been a roofer for about 10 years and I've used almost every brand of gun on the market, but this one has definatley been the best of them all! I've had it for about 3 years, and as long as you don't use 1"3/4 nails, it will keep going untill you can't go anymore without jamming. I would reccomend this lightweight unit to anyone who is serious about nailing a lot of shingles.

it was a reroof so i used 1 3/4" nails. at least 60-70% of the nails needed a little persuasion with my hammer. a real waste of time. but the gun only jammed once which wasnt bad to clear, it only took a minute. had the pressure up to 100 psi so am not sure what the problem was.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for tile backer, December 18, 2005
This review is from: Hitachi NV45AB2 Coil Roofing Nailer (Tools & Home Improvement)
I'm a ceramic and marble installer and everything i do is over Cement board. I finally broke down 3 years ago and got with the program and picked up one of these guns. A roofer friend pointed me in the right direction. Initially i wasn't impressed, it left the nails slightly proud and required some extra hammering. From my experience these guns have a definite "break in" period. A few months after my purchase this tool started to perform flawlessly and still does.

I don't use this as much as a roofer would, but to date i have had maybe 2 jammed nails and zero repairs!!

great tool. period.
