Hitachi UX21511 RPTV Lamp Replacement

The housing did not trigger the switch in the back of the tv, so even though the new bulb and housing was installed, the tv thought there was nothing, so it would only blink the red error light on the front of the tv.

After removing it and reinserting it a bunch of times, I finally figured out that the little protruding plastic tab on the bulb housing that is meant to press a little switch in the tv was too short. I added a few layers of electrical tape over the tab-4 to be exact. And then the tv worked fine.

There is nothing in the paperwork or in the description of this item that indicates that it may or may not work without modification. It took me a few hours to figure this out.

YES, the unit worked for my tv. YES, the price for two of them here was less than the cost of one from my local tv repair shop.

NO, it was not an easy or user-friendly fix for me. It will be much easier for anyone who reads this review though.

Received this lamp for our Hitachi TV within 4 days from ordering, this included the weekend. It was simple to install and the new lamp makes the picture look great considering our TV is almost 7 years old. The blacks are crisp and vibrant the way they should be. Very satisfied and happy that we didn't have to invest in a new set that would have cost at least $550 plus. Just remember to recycle your old lamp. We dropped ours off at a Lowe's.

The first item arrived defective. E-mailed the company and they sent another one right away.
Installed it and the TV is crisp and clear.
I would recommended this product to a friend.

I bought this product replace on my friend TV. it works great as new. I give this product a five star and would recommend to every one

Housing too short didn't macth up and plug into my t.v.
Called company and many days before call back.
Don't recommend.
No resolution, became my problem, my loss of money for a product I can't use!

ease of installation with free downloaded manual.....I am sure glad that the "symptoms" were correct insofar as the lamp was the problem (instead of some broken wire or ????) I ordered the lamp in its housing, thinking it would be safer these bulbs are very sensitive to being touched, and the extra cost was well worth it in my opinion. Also, really appreciate the quick shipping, tv downtime not too bad.....no withdrawal noted!

I would not recommend anyone purchasing from this vendor. The item arrived on time. However, there was no paperwork or contact information from the vendor included with the lamp.

When I put it in, the lamp did not work and the "lamp" light on the TV flashed indicating that the lamp was bad. I tried putting this in four other times and each time the TV indicated that the lamp was bad. In addition, I followed the directions in the TV's owners manual each time I installed the new lamp so I know it was not something I did.

I checked the manual for the TV, and the lamp I ordered/received was the correct model for the lamp. The lamp simply did not work. I have no contact information for this vendor, and the vendor did not include any type paperwork with their order.

I have purchased many items through Amazon, and this is the first time I have had anything other than a terrific experience. (This is the first time that I have purchased anything where Amazon was not the seller.)

I have just written this off as a bad experience and will not purchase anything from this vendor again.

I WAS HOPING THIS COULD SAVE MY OLD TV WHICH I BROUGHT 7 YRS AGO FOR MORE THAN $3200. I DID FOLLOWED ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS PLUS MY TV MANUAL TO INSTALLED THE LAMP BUT THE LAMP INDICATOR LIGHT JUST KEPT FLASHING. I WAS NOT SURE IT'S BECAUSE OF MY TV OR THE LAMP.DID ANYONE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM BEFORE? ANYWAY IT COST ME $10.95 TO RETURN THE LAMP BY UPS. WELL, I GOT MY REFUND AS THEY PROMISED. THE ONLY WINNER IS THE UPS. SHOULD I GIVE ANOTHER TRY OR LOOKING FOR NEW TV OR BOTH ? ANY SUGGESTIONS?

The housing Was not exact as a previous reviewer mentioned. I had to melt then cut off this extra hard plastic bit in order to have the housing fit into the television. There was a screw missing from the housing. The sticker "warranty voided if sticker damaged" was already cut and torn. The bulb does work though and the item did arrive in only two days after ordering. So I would give it 5 stars for efficiency, two stars for the sticker and 1 for the extra hard bit I had to melt off with a match and then cut with a blade

I was very happy with the ease of replacement and the product has been exactly what I needed it to be. It has been several months, and I have had no issues with this product, and would purchase from this supplier again.
