Full of User-Friendly Features
Like all Hitachi tools, the WH18DFL is full of features that were designed with the user in mind. To start, a non-slip Elastomer grip keeps you in complete control of the tool and provides comfort for all-day jobs. What's more, the driver weighs only 3.3 pounds, so it is extremely easy to maneuver and transport. A patented five-position belt hook with integrated LED offers easy portability, as well as illumination in dimly lit areas.

For further convenience, the WH18DFL features a quick-change bit system that makes changing drill bits as easy as can be. The 1/4-inch hex chuck requires no tools for bit changes--simply pull out, insert the bit, and release the chuck. An added bonus, integrated storage right on the tool holds two additional bits.

HXP Batteries Last Three Times Longer and Weigh 50% Less
The WH18DFL owes its light weight to two HXP Lithium-Ion batteries (included). These 1.5-Ah batteries weigh half of what traditional NiCd or NiMH batteries weigh. In fact, tools featuring HXP batteries are on average one pound lighter than tools using traditional batteries.

Additionally, HXP batteries last three times longer than their competition. Where NiCd and NiMH batteries could be used for up to 500 charge cycles, HXP Lithium-Ion batteries can be used for up to 1,500 charge cycles! An added bonus, the included quick charger replenishes the battery power in just 40 minutes, so you have less down time.

HXP Lithium-Ion batteries operate within optimal voltage limits, protecting both the tool and batteries from damage. Protection circuitry built into the batteries and charger monitors the charge and discharge for each battery cell, resulting in peak operating performance.

And if a surge in power is detected during use, Hitachi's Over-Current Protection technology will temporarily shut of the power to protect the batteries and tool from being damaged. This feature allows the power to return to optimal voltage, thereby extending battery and tool life beyond any competitive lithium-ion products.

(1) As usual Amazon is excellent. The item shipped within 2 hours and arrived within the suggested time.

(2) This is my first time using an impact driver, this really "ROCKS". It is small a little heavy (for me heavy is synonymous with quality) and packs a big punch. As a D.I.Y(er) this tool empowers me. I feel i can do anything with it.

So far i have been able to drive 4" lag screws into 6x6 pine as a test. It goes through like butter,if you're not careful you can drive the heads all the way through the timber.
I have also tested it with 2 other conventional drills(corded & cordless)and they can't compare. They were able to drive the screws about an inch into the post before coming to a wrist breaking halt.

This is truly the way to go.
As i use it more i will update.
At the price i bought it ($140's) is was a sure steal, but i would gladly pay double. It's really awesome.

I purchased this product in early summer. I have used it to drive torq screws into wood joists in remodeling jobs and also to drive 1/4" head, sheet metal screws in the installation of sheet metal roofing and siding. My grandson and I put up a steel carport with the tool. Light weight and powerful. Can't say enough good things about it. Don't expect it to perform on heavy duty impact jobs like removing tire lugs and such.

I just saw this advertised for $237.90. I purchased it for approximately $119.00. This is an excellent product for the price. I drilled about 400 pieces of 2x4 studs to create arch designs for stucco and it performed with ease. It did not lack power. The impact motion seems to kick in automatically. It was re-charged only once. Re-charging only took about 15 minutes but no time was lost since an extra battery is supplied. It seems small and fragile but don't let looks fool you. This is a sturdy, powerful piece of equipment. I also used it as a drill with the supplied drill chuck with no problems. The small size is an advantage. It fits in small areas.

My only complaint is the forward/reverse switch. It is located right above the hand grip and on several occasions, my hand would accidentally change the direction. The switch should have been located elsewhere.

I cannot attest to its longevity but judging by its performance, I assume it will last a long time.

Overall, I am very happy with this product.
