Book Description

October 11, 2005
Instead of fighting for modern approaches to truth that have been rejected by the world, Badke blazes a trail, using postmodern concepts and issues to arrive at a biblically based conclusion. (20060401)

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The answer is not 42. (Those who've read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: A Trilogy in Four Parts would understand the reference.) Piggy-backing on these popular books that take a humorous, sci-fi look at the meaning of life, the author starts at ground zero. He starts with the assumption the reader knows little about the Bible's teachings and what has been heard is probably incorrect. From there the author builds the case, without judgments or forcing premature conclusions, for the need of a Savior and why that Savior is Jesus. The book is well-thought out without getting too introspective, encouraging the reader with short chapters, insightful questions, information and truth. This would make a good gift for someone who does not come from a Christian background or for use in a discussion group to open the doors of communication." (Carolyn R. Scheidies Author Choice Reviews )

From the Back Cover

Why are we here? What purpose does life have?

Have you ever asked these questions? Have you ever avoided them, fearing that you wouldn't like the answers? Either way, you're not alone. In the face of it all, many have thrown up their hands and given up on ever finding any meaning. Maybe you are one of them.

William Badke claims that he has found the answers in a surprising place—the Bible. Returning to the pages of that ancient book, he offers a fresh, non-preachy perspective on the meaning of life. Trek with him as he weaves piercing insights together for this intense journey.

“I want to make you a promise—I’m not going to go into the old, tired routine of trying to prove to you that God exists . . . or that everything the Bible has to say is completely true. . . . I’ll try not to bore you, and I’ll let you see the words of the Bible as I discuss them so you can make up your mind whether it’s saying what I claim it’s saying.”

—From the preface

“Bill Badke is a master storyteller who weaves here a postmodern apologetic.  The result is a delightful read that is at once witty, fascinating, penetrating, and insightful. . .  . Above all, Badke calls us to recognize the voice of the One who, through all the pain, seeming meaninglessness, and death, calls us to return to Him—to come home at last. . . .”

—Gary R. Habermas
