Product Description

The efficiency of the facing design and the accuracy of the finishing make Premiere alto and tenor saxophone mouthpieces ideal all around mouthpieces. They are extremely versatile capable of producing a variety of tonal colors for a variety of musical styles. Each model is produced with one preferred facing. Medium or medium hard reeds cut with a strong center and thinner sides (such as the Rico Jazz Select LaVoz or Vandoren Java) work well with the overall mouthpiece and facing design.

This is a great mouthpiece for what you pay for it. Seriously, in performance per dollars you can't beat this. In the realm of inexpensive plastic mass-produced mouthpieces this thing is probably the king. It's not the best mouthpiece I've ever used, there are certainly better ones out there if you're focusing on tone but if you're on a budget and want to get away from the 4C that came with your tenor sax this is the first place I'd go. It's got a larger tip opening, around .095, that helps you develop a proper tenor embouchure and will give you a bit more projection and volume. If you want better tone you're going to have to spend more money as this is plastic and it sounds like a plastic mouthpiece, it's lacking some of those more complicated harmonics, however, for that I'd say move up to the Artist model of the same mouthpiece for much much less than other similar hard rubber mouthpieces and still be money ahead.

I wasn't sure if purchasing a new mouthpiece would make THAT much of a difference in sound, but not only was the sound different, but the playability was so much smoother.
