This autobiography completes its mission: it tells you about the life of Shere Hite. In it you'll learn about how and when she began discovering her own sexuality and how she came to study sexuality and feminism. She details how she went from modelling in a typewriter ad to protesting that same ad. Her first meetings with famous feminists of the time show a self-conscious woman struggling to find her voice.

Also of note are her descriptions of sending out the famed Hite Report and a touching story of being raised by her grandparents. There is considerable defense of her use of qualitative research as well her personal reaction to being attacked for using such methods.

The book offers more insight into Shere Hite's life than you'll learn from the internet and does so in an easy read. Also of note: if you're interested in Hite, you ought to see her brief interview on the Colbert Report in 2006.
