5.0 out of 5 stars Whoa: a punk CD with a song from "The Sound of Music"
Can you say "hysterical?!" A Simple Truth: The Vandals are awesome. These guys make punk fun. Yeah, listening to most punk bands moan and yell about how much life sucks is occasionally amusing, but the Vandals have a wonderful punky sound with any screaming or predictible and boring lyrics. And they're just so damn funny. "My Girlfriend's Dead" is...

2.0 out of 5 stars REALLY OLD REALLY FAST
First listening to this CD its sound great, but the songs get really old really fast. None of the songs are really good. The Vandals are a very potential band, and they have proven their skillz in both music and lyrics in their preivous CD's, DONT BUY UNLESS YOUR A REAL VANDALS FAN, OR YOU GET THE CD FOR LIKE $5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whoa: a punk CD with a song from "The Sound of Music", June 4, 2001

"My Girlfriend's Dead" is a breakup song unlike ANY other breakup song ever written; "If The Government Can Read my Mind" is sweet without being obnoxiously mushy; "Come out Fighting" is awesome; "F'd up Girl" is the most shamefully funny song I've ever heard, and aftering hearing the Vandals' version of "Song Long, Farewell," The Sound of Music will never be the same again. This CD is great! It's original and it's entertaining, and you don't have to be a punk fan to appreciate it. I say buy it baby!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Culmination Of What The Vandals Do Best, November 14, 2005

In my opinion this is the best Vandals album to date. Their musical split-personality really irritates me because while they can produce some of the most cleverly written, witty, melodic punk songs around, so often the Evil-Less-Talented Side of the Vandals comes out and their musical skill seems to go by the wayside in favour of a more "hardcore" angst-driven sound. So many of their albums feature both types of songs, but Hitler Bad, Vandals Good contains only the well-written ones. It is upbeat, ridiculous fun from start to finish and shows why the Vandals hold the title of being the Fathers of Dumb-Arse Punk (I am an Aussie afterall) that the younger bands like Guttermouth try to emulate. Highlights include I Know, Huh?, My Girlfriend's Dead and An Idea For A Movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine album by a fine band, August 12, 2004
This review is from: Hitler Bad, Vandals Good (Audio CD)
The Vandals are some of the funniest guys ever. I like the way they avoid the topic of polotics(i.e. They do mention the government in "If the government could read my mind"). They just write about the stupid things that pop in their heads or they witness in their everyday lives. This band is lighthearted and jovial all while keeping up a tremendous amount of energy and firing an arsenal of endless catchy punk riff's. This album is my second favorite vandals next to The Quickening. I have yet to here their new one. I love every song on this album with my favorite being...errmmm....so many to choose from....Their cover of So Long Farewell from the sound of music!!!! Yay! If you don't like this album then you are prolly an angry person with cancer or the AIDS who can't laugh and hates everything more than I do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Power Punk, January 20, 2000

This is not a masterpiece, but it has some gems amidst the so-so stuff: My Girlfriend's Dead and If The Gov't Could read My Mind are classic neo-Ramonistic pop punk. But if you're going to get this sucker, you also need The Queers "Punk Rock Confidential" and Screeching Weasel's "Television City Dream". If you add the "Forgotten Rebels" CD and any Humpers stuff, you should be one happy camper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, But Catchy Tunes That Keep You Wanting More, April 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Hitler Bad, Vandals Good (Audio CD)
This album has a mix of punk, ska, and reggae mixed with a little touch of humour. An excellent variety of songs makes this album a must-get for all punk fans. Songs like "The People That Are Going To Hell" and "I've Got An Ape Drape" will be stuck in your head all day, and you'll get a good laugh out of humourous songs such as "My Girlfriend's Dead" and "F**ked Up Girl". They also cover Pennywise's "Come Out Fighting" extremely well, and did a great job on "So Long Farewell" which was from the classic film, "The Sound of Music"

I bought this with what little graduation money I was given after escaping high school, and was initially surprised by the overall poppiness of this album. But who cares? It's one of the funniest albums you can buy and also has the Vandals best cover.

I've seen this band five times live and they FREAKING ROCK. This CD is an amazing example of the lively, happy tone that they set whenever they do a live show. This is BY FAR my favorite band, and if you listen to this CD, especially tracks 5 and 12, you will see why! I'd also recommend anything by Tsunami Bomb, Less Than Jake, The Godawfuls, PIMP This, and of course the Bouncing Souls and Pennywise. Upbeat, not depressing and good times. Good times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta Lovit!, November 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Hitler Bad, Vandals Good (Audio CD)
I really don't get why people think this is the worst of the Vandals, but I think it's their masterpiece. I don't like that song "Too Much Drama" because that goon from The Offspring co-wrote it with them. If he didn't, that song would rule. But the album does not suffer because of it
