This book sheds the light of understanding on one of the most horrifying and inhuman episodes in history. Drawing on her first hand visits to all 19 primary concentration camps, on her contact with survivors and former Nazis, and on 20 years of study, the author brings the perspective of a historian and scholar to her quest for the meaning of the holocaust.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brutally Honest, November 7, 2000
By

This review is from: Hitler's Death Camps: The Sanity of Madness (Paperback)
I read this book when I was 16, after FINALLY watching a copy of "Schindler's List". From the moment I began the movie, I was entranced by the Holocaust and immediately wanted to read as much as I could about this dark time in Our History. As I expected, there isn't that much available to a 16 year old (I am 19 now), but this book was enough and then some! It is amazing how the author goes through EACH individual camp (major camp) and illuminates the reader as to what occured and what fate awaited not only the comandants, but the female SS officers. From this book, it is so easy to FEEL what the victims of the Holocaust felt and SEE the horror they witnessed. This is one of my most favorite books!

5.0 out of 5 stars What Horror Shall We Inflict Upon Ourselves?, January 26, 2000

This review is from: Hitler's Death Camps: The Sanity of Madness (Paperback)
I'll be brief. A deeply disturbing account of Nazi concentration camps and the activities that took place at such locales. It is truly hard to imagine the abhorrent behavior and actions that were used against Jews, mainly Jews, and other non-sanctioned races designated by the National Socialist Worker's Party in the years before and throughout WWII. Feig guides the reader along a nightmarish tour of grisly death and, what many inhabitants of these camps must of felt, psychological hopelessness.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Unique Reading Experience, March 4, 1999
By
This review is from: Hitler's Death Camps: The Sanity of Madness (Paperback)
Konnilyn Feig's engrossing journey into our not so distant past is an incredible encounter with the depths of human suffering and ultimately, the strength of humanity. A fastidious chronicle of Hitler's evil plans in action, "Hitler's Death Camps" is brutally honest in conveying the scope of the Holocaust's devastation. For an uninitiated reader of WWII suffering, Feig's book will be shocking but compelling. It is a needed text to fully comprehend what can happen to a society in the hands of hatred and moral dereliction. If you want to know what really occurred in the Holocaust, the reading of "Hitler's Death Camps" is mandatory
