4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference, October 16, 2011
This review is from: Hitler's Luftwaffe (Hardcover)
This volume is filled with photo's of the actual planes as well as drawings and exploded views of many of the innovative and advanced aircraft of the Luftwaffe from prewar years through 1945. The designs of these planes can still be seen in modern aircraft today. The analytical look at the Luftwaffe as a fighting branch and not as a political evaluation of the man behind them makes this an excellent read. Although we can never sever the actions that made Hitler a monster from his military, we can view and admire the technological advancements made by German Aircraft developers in this time period.

In some instances, the aircraft described lacked even a line drawing of their form, and this is unfortunate. I prefer the lack of visual over wrong visuals though and find that the author's attention to accuracy is far superior to similar works of other authors. As an avid military historian, this book has become a standard reference that I go back to time and time again for information on any aircraft of the Luftwaffe.
