If you are looking for conspiracy theories linking the "secret Nazi scientists" to everything from an underground lake in Antarctica to the first Iraq War, this book is right up your alley. The author makes such wild claims that I gave up on the book about halfway through and only skimmed the rest.

This review is from: Hitler's Suppressed and Still-Secret Weapons, Science and Technology (Paperback)
from the publisher:

Now we know what spooked the Allies in the closing months of the war and why they were in such a panic to win quickly. The Allies assembled intelligence reports of supermetals, electric guns, and ray weapons able to stop the engines of Allied aircraft in addition to their worst fears of x-ray and laser weaponry.

Then there were the bombs. Contained in this book are reports of structured bombs of nipolit, N-stoff bombs, cold bombs, oxygen bombs which destroyed all life, atomic bombs and rumors of the mysterious molecular bomb. The true history of the fuel-air bomb is revealed by our own military. There is even a probability that the SS black alchemists of the 3rd Reich were experimenting with red mercury bomb technology.

This book documents very large mystery rockets under development in Germany, far beyond the V-2. Technological history is also examined. Guess who invented the computer, magnetic tape and computer programs? How about refining crude oil using sound waves or producing gasoline for 11 cents per gallon or the synthetic penicillin substitute, "3065"?

Very exotic technologies are also discussed including German experiments in time, sustained fusion reactions, zero point energy and travel in deep space.

Chapters include: The Kammler Group; German Flying Disc Update (Witness to a German Flying Disc); The Electromagnetic Vampire; Liquid Air; Synthetic Blood; German Free Energy Research; German Atomic Tests; "Project Hexenkessel" The Fuel-Air Bomb; Supermetals; Red Mercury; Means To Stop Engines; Magnetic Wave-Motorstoppmittel; "Death Rays"; Distillation of Crude Oil Using Sound Waves; What is Happening in Antarctica?; Large German Mystery Rockets; Experiments in Time; tons more.

The author has done his research. Official documents lend credibility to all of his claims about secret German weapons developed during World War II that still remain little discussed and little researched partly due to the fact that it was not until the fall of the U.S.S.R. that certain pieces of information came to light in Germany. Shortly afterward, the Americans began declassifying relevant documents. The other thing that discouraged research was the ridicule heaped on those who even mentioned such things as lasers developed during the war. But, if these things were never made then there would be no reports concerning them, and other fantastic things. A worthwhile book, and a definite addition to the library of anyone who has been putting the puzzle together regarding weapons, devices and discoveries made by the Germans during the war.

Absolutely well researched, with solid proof printed within. The author makes his point with in depth research, and prints the bulk of his source documents. If you want to read fact, not fiction or opinion, this one is for you. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Book, Highly Recommended, June 29, 2008
This review is from: Hitler's Suppressed and Still-Secret Weapons, Science and Technology (Paperback)
This book is an outstanding bit of research, I also liked how it was written and architected. It is broken up into easily understandable parts and the author does his best to break complex ideas into understandable practical application.

I am not sure what books the other reviewers have read that are more "thorough" than this one. The writer does not lapse into insane conspiracy theories nor does he make any claims that he cannot back up without reasonable historical reference. If he does site theory that is inconsistent with the history or proof he says so.

This book is a much, much easier read than the other Nazi weapson/history books. It is also grounded in reality which makes it a bit more scary and DOes in fact make me wonder what our government did with all of the information they culled from the Axis powers at the end of WWII.

The only part of this book that I would like to see expanded is the discussion around the impacts of this technology on every day life. Clearly many of the ideas the Germans were working on migrated from Germany to the US and Russia. Are many of those secrets still waiting to wander out of Pandoras box today?

Could any of the Nazi Technologies actually be used to help the world (such as alternative energy technologies)? What every happened to the U-boat that made it to South America after the war?

Hopefully the author will write another book that explores new findings and paints a picture of how the Germans continue to effect the world.

Unfortunately it seems like the most used items that came from the Nazis still seems to be torture technique. Hopefully the world will learn from their evil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why did we go to war........against the Nazis?, August 21, 2008

This review is from: Hitler's Suppressed and Still-Secret Weapons, Science and Technology (Paperback)
A previous reviewer who slammed this book for being "conspiracy-laden" stated that there were better books available on Nazi secret weaponry. He doesn't name the book titles for us. He can't, because none exist. IMO,Henry Stevens has done enough research to prove his general case, and also does a good job in showing how the Freedom of Information Act is nothing less than a cynical manipulation to prolong cover-ups, delay transparency, and forestall accountability. My main criticism of the book would be that each chapter deserves a separate book in its own right. I can only assume that the author wanted to cram as much information into a 330 page paperback as he possibly could do. Some of the claims are perhaps too speculative in nature for most readers to accept, for example, that the nuclear bombs dropped on Japan originally belonged to the Nazis and were captured from them. Nevertheless, I suspect that a great deal of the book's content will resonate those who are skeptical of officialdom. The obvious question that arises is..why did we go to war in the first place? Was it really motivated by idealism, or was it to get our hands on the Nazi scientists and their technology?

If you are looking for conspiracy theories linking the "secret Nazi scientists" to everything from an underground lake in Antarctica to the first Iraq War, this book is right up your alley. The author makes such wild claims that I gave up on the book about halfway through and only skimmed the rest.

One example:

The V-2 was finished in late 1943 therefore Von Braun must have been working on a V-3 or A-9/A-10. The author suggests that the Nazi government wouldn't have let him "rest on his laurels". This form of reasoning borders on the absurd.

Most of the "chapters" are just a few pages in length. The author sprinkles documents obtained from FOIA requests throughout various chapters which might bolster his claims. However, the frequent and incessant conspiracy theories he spews from "known sources" ruins the credibility of his text.

There are some interesting bits of information in the book...but the rubbish far outweighs them.

Some Chapter Titles:

Chapter 3 - "German Digital Computers"

Chatper 4 - "German Flying Discs Update"

Chapter 5 - "The Electromagnetic Vampire"

Chapter 13 - "German Atomic Test"

Chapter 22 - "Electric Gun or Rail Gun"

Chapter 24 - "Means to Stop Engines (using gas)"

Chapter 26 - "Death Rays (X-ray/Gamma Ray weapon)"

Chapter 31 - "What is happening in Antarctica?"

Finally, there is Chapter 35 which is called "Experiments in Time". Yes, you will be astonished to know that the Nazis had their very own time machine. The source of this information? A researcher heard it from a family friend who heard it from a German Army soldier who heard it from an SS soldier. Draw your own conclusions.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awfull and full of names mess-up, August 11, 2009
This review is from: Hitler's Suppressed and Still-Secret Weapons, Science and Technology (Paperback)
As I am an engineer, I was expecting a lot more from this book. I am very disapointed with the all-present conspiracy theory and the lack of coherence from one chapter to another. Also, the chapter size is very small and the descriptive level is mainly for pseudoscientists. Very very dissapointed about the book. Not worthy. I'll be more careful on further readings on this matter.

4.0 out of 5 stars A brief compendium of Nazi black weapons, science and technology secrets., September 20, 2011

This review is from: Hitler's Suppressed and Still-Secret Weapons, Science and Technology (Paperback)
A brief compendium of Nazi black weapons, science and technology secrets.

Mr. Henry Stevens' primer on Nazi black weapons, science and technology secrets is a quick read. He covers a lot of ground in short, superficial chapters that averaged about 8 pages per individual topic. Most of what Mr. Stevens discusses has been covered before in more definitive fashion. In particular I recommend Nick Cook's The Hunt for Zero Point (excellent), David Porter's Hitler's Secret Weapons: 1933-1945 (Outstanding), and Geoffrey Thomas' KG 200 The Luftwaffe's Most Secret Unit (Outstanding). There are others but these will pretty much cover the Nazi black weapons operation in definitive depth.

Mr. Stevens' book is a good primer on the secret world of Nazi black weapons. Generally it is superficially accurate although his documentation is weak and spotty. More definitive footnoting or endnotes with a good, solid bibliography would have given this book more gravitas. The brief chapters gives the reader a smattering of the complex nature of Hitler's large black weapon research and operations. One can quickly see quite a lot was going on before and during the war in regards to Nazi secret weapons, science, and technology. Fortunately for the Allies, during most of the war Hitler's black ops was too decentralized and scattered to be effective. Finally in late 1943, the mysterious SS General Dr. Hans Kammler took charge of the Hitler's black weapons ops and the program exploded resulting in a plethora of new weapons, science and technology. Still, operating at max capacity and peak efficiency it was too little too late to save Hitler and Germany from unconditional defeat.

Hitler's bragged that his "Wunder Weapons" would turn his Reich's defeat into victory. They did not. But, the Allies realized their importance in a changing world and raced to bag as many of the Nazi scientists and weapons as they could resulting in a whole new world of Allied Black Operations. Mr. Stevens' superficial book highlights this and pounds home the importance of what German weapon advancement, science and technology accomplished during WW2 and how it affects what we see and do today.

I recommend this as a superficial primer only. Good as a general overview of what Germany was doing in the world of black operations in regards to secret weapons, science, and technology. For a more definitive exploration of this subject see the other books I outlined in this review.

I am a huge fan of these types of books. I truly believe that there are things that were developed by the Germans during WWII that the general public likely doesn't know about. I think this book does an OK job of passing along some interesting ideas about what those things were. All too often though, the "proof" of these weapons/materials is extremely thin. I think there were some that were no more than one German guy making reference to something in a debriefing after the war that necessitated a chapter. The argument for doing this is that the notes of these debriefings were sent up the chain of command and if there wasn't something to them then they would not have been passed along. To me, there needs to be more corroboration than that. I think the idea in the title is that this stuff is "still secret" should tell you something. Interesting read, but short on reasonable evidence of existence.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Reference Book, August 26, 2009

This review is from: Hitler's Suppressed and Still-Secret Weapons, Science and Technology (Paperback)
Let my first state that after reading this book I realized that I am just not that interested in rocket technology and weaponry. I found most of it tremendously boring. I shall, however, be as objective as possible in my review. But I did want to warn anyone like myself who is interested in Nazi esotericism and World War 2 history that this may not be as exciting for you as you might think based on the reviews.

So, here we go. This book contains a lot of well-researched (for the most part) history of secret Nazi weaponry. I have no doubt that much of it is true as we all know that Germans are the most intelligent people on the planet (ahem). What does strike me as strange is that most of these projects described somehow were started in 1944 (Did every German scientist working for the SS just happen to start these amazing war-winning projects in the same year?). Also it seems to me, from a strategic point of view, that there would be absolutely no point in not experimenting with their efficacy on the Allied invaders regardless of how complete the projects were. If Hitler killed himself (did he?) than surely shooting a rocket that might not work at the invaders would be no great loss. That simply does not make logical sense to me.

If you are a weaponry buff you will surely find this book fascinating. The author gives the reader valuable leads into investigating further on his own. He also reproduces many official Allied and German documents that lend credence to his claims. This book is just what it says it is. For that reason I give it four stars.

As an aside: If anyone from Adventures Unlimited Press reads this review I strongly suggest that you get an editor! I own many of your books and all of them have typos, grammatical errors and incorrect word usage. This was the worst I have ever read in that regard from your otherwise wonderful company. Contact me! I'll be glad to do it! But when an author uses a word like "conscious" instead of "conscience", as happened in this book, you really need someone to go back and fix it. Every page in this book has something like that. It detracts from the impact of the book.
