I love this game! It lived up to all my expectations I had. There are some flaws in the game such as when I first got the game it currupted my save game data 2-3 times causing me to restart the story multiple times, but on the other hand this game has awesome gameplay and fantastic graphics! (wished it ran 1080p but you can't really tell that is doesn't) I also love how this game has an improved replay value compared to the previous games due to the new addition of "Contracts" mode which allows you to make contracts based on the missions in the game and share as well as compete with the hitman community and your online friends. One MAJOR MAJOR thing I have to say I was dissapointed in this special edition. I wanted to have my add-on exclusive to my purchase along with the pre-order add-on but ALL of the add-on was released on day one, making me feel like I just payed more for a bigger cooler box with a small/short but awesome art book. OVERALL: This game is Splendid! It is definitly a must get for any fan of the series and for the new comers! Anyone is able to play this game no matter what your play style. BUY THE REGULAR VERSION.Hitman: Absolution

The Hitman series has been around for awhile, however this is the first new title for current gen consoles (PS3 & 360). Although I always had interest in the games I never really played them, but when Absolution came out I took my chance to Gamefly it. The things I noticed immediately about the game were the graphics. The cut scenes are almost next gen quality, and the gameplay graphics are some of the best of this era. This seems to be the case with other modern Square Enix games like the Tomb Raider reboot.

The story spits out instantly, which can take a minute or two to catch up on if you aren't already familiar with the franchise like myself. While the story isn't anything particularly unique or special does it really need to be? You play as an assassin killing targets, pretty straight forward right? The functionality and tactics of the game are a big part of what makes it so fun. If you enjoy playing stealth you can essentially sneak your way around the entire game (this is the way the game was really intended to be played). But if you would rather run around the levels guns blazing, good luck, as the enemies pile up it can get increasingly difficult. Having many different options for how you kill enemies is a great aspect to this game and keeps it from getting too monotonous.

One of the games biggest flaws is that it is simply not long enough. As good as the game is and as interesting as it's story is there is just not enough of it. The only other critique I have for the game is that each level could be a bit bigger. So many games have shifted to the open world interface that it makes games like this feel a little smaller.

REVIEW OF THE GAME:

Hitman: Absolution is a pretty divisive game. In general, it's more successful with people who, like me, are not very familiar with the franchise. So I guess you're more likely to like it if you haven't played the previous games before. I can't speak for the gameplay differences (besides the obvious ones), but I can say this one is pretty effective. You're a Hitman, so your job is generally to kill targets, and this game has dozens of ways to do so, and most of them are really satisfying. You can also choose to approach the situation in a stealthy way or go guns blazing, and you can pretty much succeed in both ways. This is something Hitman veterans don't like much, since, as I understand it, previous games FORCED the stealth. I can't understand this complaint, honestly. I think a game is better when it gives you a choice of how to play it rather than force you to do it one way or the other.

One obvious difference would be that, since the story makes you a rogue agent in run from the agency that you're usually employed on, you can't use the agency's resources. That means, again, another obvious difference in gameplay: you're on your own. You can't get equipment before a mission, you have to procure it on your own. And sometimes you don't have intel either, so you have to find things on your own. Again, veterans don't like this change, and that's a bit more understandable, but I think it does for a nice change of pacing. You're the same character with the same skills, only now you're on a situation that escapes your control and you're practically out of help. I really think it makes for a more interesting adventure.

The major difference (and the most divisive one) is the story.

Fantastic game, and at it's current price it is an absolute steal. This iteration of the Hitman series is easily the best yet. So many ways to play, many different options to complete your objectives and they all have their own benefits and challenges. The Challenge system is great. The combat is realistic, mostly, and it really gets you into the spirit of the game being able to complete challenges in so many ways. Replay value is extremely high. I've already played the first several campaign missions several times each in order to try different methods of completing them.
In addition the game also offers a fantastic online mode where you can create and share your own missions or play those designed by others. Being able to build a level and decide how the player must identify, assassinate, and escape is a lot of fun. Many people have created some truly awesome missions. BTW, as an added feature whenever you pause during a level, you will be offered contracts created by other players that you can attempt without disturbing your progress. Great game.
