5.0 out of 5 stars Sammy Kershaw, today's George Jones, or Merle Haggard, August 11, 2000

This review is from: Hits Chapter 1 (Audio CD)
Just buy the CD and listen to what you would find if you went to an encyclopedia and looked up "Real Country Music", and you will not be offended by what most of today's so called country music (sic) radio stations define country music to be, someone in a country cowboy hat or western garb and then he or she sounds like someone ran over an ally cat with their wailing and rock and pop garbage that is force fed down our "listening throats" as "country?" music! Why is it I hear that it is too country or he or she sounds to hillbilly or too much hick? How can anyone be too country? Did you ever hear of someone being too classical, or too pop? I think we all should reassess what is and is not country music. Buy and listen to Sammy Kershaw's "The Hits-Chapter One." You will not be disappointed in your choice or the man and his music. A talent like him only comes along once in a generation, so don't leave out one of the most significant influences to grace the radio waves in years.

Sammy Kershaw is the kind of singer, entertainer that makes you feel like he's singing to "you"... Like he could be your big brother, your cousin, your dad...just a all around good guy with alot of wisdom and compassion to help you through what you are going through, cause he's already been through it. Keep it up SK...you are the best and made a believer out of me in country music..... TS

5.0 out of 5 stars All of Sammy's best early work on one CD., June 4, 1999

The first Sammy song I ever heard was "Your Tattoo." It remains one of my favorites, along with nearly every song on this CD. Even my friends who aren't Sammy fans find themselves singing along to many of the now famous songs included on this CD. Every song that he had done up to this point that truly defined his talent and style is on this CD.
