The kind of country I like....,
By
This review is from: Hits Collection, The (Audio CD)
I pretty much have been a ROCKER all of my 35 years, but as I get older, I can appreciate the qualities of other styles of music now. I have never really liked country music, even though, some songs catch my ear sometimes. I look for hooks in songs, that goes for rock, classical, jazz, folk, and country and other styles. If I like it, I like it. It doesnt matter what kind of music it is. Thats what I am talking about when I listen to Hal Ketchum. From the first time I heard Small Town Saturday Night, and the awesome, and deep I Know Where Love Lives (two of the best songs on this compilation). These two songs are my favorites, as far as hooks go, but to tell you the truth, the whole cd is great. Hal just has that unique voice that sets him apart from anyone else. If you want great country music, or just great music for that matter, get this one. Heck, get all of his recordings....

Hal Ketchum Has Guts!,
By
This review is from: Hits Collection, The (Audio CD)
After seeing Hal live in Austin, TX at One World Theater an old favorite became my new BEST CHOICE for original songs and the deepest most honest voice ever put to music. Hal is a hit with me and it's not the Small Town Saturday Night that put him on the map that shows his abilities like Satisfied Mind and others you may not have heard yet. Get this CD now, you won't be disappointed at all.

One Of Hal's Best Albums.,
This review is from: Hits Collection, The (Audio CD)
When First Heard "Small Town Saturday Night" I Thought That Hal Would Go Up In The Country Music Scene. And He Did. Songs Like: "I Know Where Love Lives", "Past The Point Of Rescue", "Sure Love", "Hearts Are Gonna Roll", "That's What I Get For Losing You", And "Stay Forever" Are All Great. This Is A Great CD To Buy. He Comes From My State, New York.

country with a twist,

This CD is great. It is filled with wonderful songs and lyrics that get the body moving and the heart feeling. I feel that Hal portrays his feelings through his songs, especially in "stay forever," which remains one of my all time favorites. A few years ago, I was lucky enough to see him in concert and it was great. He played not only all these songs, but also a few new ones. Mr. ketchum is a wonderful musician who does not receive the amount of radio play that he deserves. Otherwise more people would be writing to say what a great artist he is. This CD is a must have.

You won't be disappointed with anything by Hal Ketchum,

Hal Ketchum's THE HITS is a good place to start if you're not familiar with Hal's catalog. Hal was raised in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York but moved to Florida when he was 17 and then to Texas where he immediately started to hone his songwriting skills and play the Texas dance hall circuit. The influence of the Lone Star state is apparent in Hal's singing and songwriting. The solo-penned "I Miss My Mary" is hands-down my favorite track with "Sure Love," "I Know Where Love Lives" and "Stay Forever" following closely behind. Although Randy Travis also recorded the Tony Arata composition, "Satisfied Mind," Hal's aching vocal on this track is incomparable.

Hal HITS the Musical Soul of listeners,

I would reccomend this collection of songs by Hal Ketchum to every country music fan. Stay Forever is my favorite Hal Ketchum song and the song Satisfied Mind is a pure delight that should have been released to radio. Hal is a very underrated artist who deserves more attention from country radio.

You Won't Get Tired of Listening To This CD,
By
This review is from: Hits Collection, The (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite 5 or 6 CD's. From start to finish, this collection of 14 of Hal Ketchum's most popular hits is outstanding. Thhe CD is full of great tunes, but my favorite is "I Know Where Love Lives." The lyrics paint a beautiful picture of how true love can help us focus on the important things in life. In this case, true love happens to be "sittin' on the back porch with sea green eyes and chestnut hair." "Satisfied Mind" is another song with exceptional lyrics, and it's tied to a melody that perfectly matches them. And "Someplace Far Away" is a story of its own. You won't tire of listening to this CD and singing along with Ketchum's rich voice.

Variety with a Good Beat.,

Hal Ketchum really demonstrated his beautiful voice and varied talent on this album. many of the songs are really upbeat and are just pure simple good tunes. They are musts for a long drive in the country or working out. He also has a couple of really beautiful slower songs on the album, too. The song "Satisfied Mind" is really meaningful, and I think "Stay Forever" is one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard.
