5.0 out of 5 stars (4.5 Stars) Puttin' On The 'Hits'!!!, December 4, 2005

Dru Hill made a huge impact on the musical landscape that shaped the late 90s R&B sound. Once the new millenium hit however, things started to get a little rough around the edges with Sisqo venturing off to put out two solo albums. And even though he wasn't the only one to do so (Woody released a spiritual album in 2001), Sisqo pretty much sealed the fate for future Dru Hill albums. True, he had a huge debut solo album titled Unleash The Dragon, but his superstar status came crumbling down with silly remarks about him being able to sing any R&B cat under the table and a lackluster follow-up titled Return of Dragon.

And even though most greatest hits collections are truly what they say they are, the inclusion of Sisqo's solo hits should have been left off this collection. Besides that momentary lapse in judgment, Hits has just that....hits that you grew to love over the years from the quartet-turned-quintet with the introduction of Scola in 2002. It's jammed packed full of back to back jams like "Tell Me," "5 Steps," "In My Bed," "Beauty," "Never Make A Promise," "You Are Everything," "We're Not Making Love No More," "How Deep Is Your Love," "These Are The Times," and the remake "The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind)." They even include "I Should Be..." "I Love You," and "No Doubt" from 2002's Dru World Order. Any true fan like myself has all the albums, so there is no real reason to go out and buy this collection. But for those that just want the jams, Hits should easily fit the bill. Now if they could just regroup and come back with another album, we'd all be happy!

5.0 out of 5 stars At last--all of their hits on one CD!!!!, October 23, 2005
This review is from: Hits (Audio CD)
I had to get this CD! All of their hits on one album!!!!! I was surprised that as a group and with Sisqo's solo hits, they had 16 charted singles! Just unbelievable. Radio was very supportive of this group. Dru Hill probably set the framework for the current music trend of R&B/rap collaborations when some radio people were hesitant to play those kinds of songs. But they succeeded at it where one genre doesn't outdo the other in the same song. I still love their hits of Tell Me (and that stomping groove on it), In My Bed, How Deep Is Your Love, I Should Be, the funky In My Bed remix and others. Even songs that peaked in the 20s such as the underrated and soulful Beauty (which peaked at #24 R&B) are included. The group sounds superb vocally on all songs. Babyface produced some wonderful ballads for them as well as Darryl Simmons. I noticed how they went from Stanley Brown (early '90s hitmaker on his own) producing most of the first album to Babyface and others on the second to producing on their own on the third, such a tremendous creative growth for them musically. Thong Song is still a fun, escapist dance record that gets you on the floor everytime. Sisqo's infamous Yeaaahhhhh singing was a common trademark on How Deep, Thong and even Will Smith's hit Wild Wild West. It shows how much he's into the songs, a commanding vocalist both solo and with DH. Wished that the group would have recorded a few new songs for this compilation, see how much they've progressed. But this is a well thought out, well put together album of their best music. They made Baltimore a hot music city for artists, especially with Mario, Lil' Mo and some artists that came later.

5.0 out of 5 stars All Their Classics On One CD., October 21, 2005
This review is from: Hits (Audio CD)
It`s about time! I have been waiting a long time for a Dru Hill Greatest Hits album to come out, now I don`t have to find all of their albums to hear my favorite songs, its all right here.

Favorites: "Tell Me", "In My Bed", "Never Make A Promise", "We`re Not Making Love Anymore", "How Deep Is Your Love", "Beauty", "I Should Be.." Sisqo`s "Incomplete" & of course, the summer anthem of 2001.. "Thong Song".

Great idea to come out with this album. Hopefully this will inspire the group to come out with another album to bring back that great R&B vibe back to the game. Recommended for anyone who likes R&B. BKLYNBABYLON signing off...

In My Bed *That is the 1 you know even if you were only a casual in the 90s*

But there are 3 more that are just as good or better.

Tell Me
Never Make A Promise
These Are The Times

1st 2 are similar and a bit slow jam but with some assertiveness.
The last is slow and more of a ballad type.

Another 3 are solid tracks.

5 Steps
How Deep Is Your Love
I Should Be...

5.0 out of 5 stars Some of the best slow jams of the nineties, January 13, 2007
This review is from: Hits (Audio CD)
Dru Hill is a typical story in R&B where ego's destroy the group. Dru Hill was one of the last good groups to come out in the nineties who actually presented good quality R&B and all of the hits are here. Tell Me,How Deep Is Your Love, and Never Make a Promise and many more are here including my personal favorite Beauty. My main compliant with the CD is the songs are mostly all radio edits and there's too many weak tracks from the 2002 flop Dru World Order.

Just bought the album. I didnt even have to listen to it and I already knew I'd love it. I mean just look at the track list. Tells the whole story right there, like a Dru Hill mix right there in your head.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dru Hill - Hits, October 26, 2005
This review is from: Hits (Audio CD)
After a decade of music the Baltimore group Dru Hill (Jazz, Sisqo, Nokio, Woody) deliver a premium greatest hits album with "Hits" (2005). This release contains tracks from the group's three albums, soundtrack appearances and two tracks from Sisqo's first solo album. The group's newest and fifth member Scola has appearances on the Dru World Order tracks.

Tell Me (Dru Hill)
In My Bed (Dru Hill)
Never Make A Promise (Dru Hill)
Big Mama feat. Foxy Brown (How to Be a Player Soundtrack)
5 Steps (Dru Hill)
We're Not Making Love No More (Soul Food Soundtrack)
How Deep Is Your Love feat. Redman (Rush Hour Soundtrack Version)
These Are The Times (Enter the Dru)
The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind) (Enter the Dru)
Beauty (Enter the Dru)
You Are Everything (Enter the Dru)
I Should Be (Dru World Order)
No Doubt (Work It) (Dru World Order)
I Love You (Dru World Order)
Thong Song (Unleash The Dragon)
Incomplete (Unleash The Dragon)
In My Bed (So So Def Remix)

Listening to this album brings back a lot of good memories. I hope that Dru Hill continues to make music; they are one of the few R & B groups I really like. "Hits" is an album I would recommend for any R & B collection.
