Book Description

A novella about the further misadventures of Maggie Lee and the rest of the cast of zany characters from CONFESSIONS OF A SLIGHTLY NEUROTIC HITWOMAN:

Maggie Lee’s a lot of things:

The daughter of a mom in a mental institution and a dad serving time;
The niece of three meddling aunts;
The aunt (and now legal guardian) of her beloved niece, Katie;
The friend of a snarky lizard, a dyslexic Doberman, and a semi-psychic co-worker;
A contract killer.

But one thing she'd never thought she'd be is a thief.

That's about to change as she heads to the casinos of Atlantic City to
help her sexy murder mentor, Patrick Mulligan, steal something from a professional thief.

Maggie's never been lucky in love or money. Will this gamble pay off or will she lose her shirt, her heart or even her life?

Maggie trusts her mentor, Patrick Mulligan, so she doesn't think twice when he asks her to help him with a job in Atlantic City. It just so happens that she has tickets to a Barry Manilow concert and was planning to go anyway. So she and her good friend Armani (who is unaware of Mulligan's job) head off to AC with Maggie's lizard along for the ride because he didn't want to stay home alone. It's always a fun time for the reader when Godzilla (or god as he likes to be called) makes an appearance. He finds himself making quite an unexpected appearance during the job. That's all I'll say about that or the rest of the plot. You'll have to read to find out. It's a quick, fun read.

This novella is #2.5 in the series. Although it can be a stand alone I recommend you start with the first book (Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman) because you don't want to miss how Maggie became a hitwoman.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing but perhaps understandably June 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was disappointed by the is book as I had chosen it on the basis of the positive reviews I read. Perhaps I like my fiction to be grounded a little more in reality but talking animals turned what I felt was a light-hearted and flippant read into somewhat of a farce. I didn't find the story funny.

However, it was well written and as a short story (had it not had the aforementioned talking animals) has potential as a series as it was an entertaining read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wasted words August 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really tried to like this piece. The author is literate, with a feel for the flow and pace of dialogue, but lost me with the gimmicky
talking lizard. Why? Are there not enough talking, sentient pets out sleuthing, lawyering, spying, and what have you, saving their bumbling humans and authors from competency?

The book does not make it as porn, satire, action, nor, even, spoof. The author could be more honest and entertaining to have the hitwoman talking to herself, her penis/vagina/ sex

toy of choice, Hitler, or SATAN; and why isn't the lizard kept in the safety of her panties, rather than her more dangerous bra?
And, for that matter,why does my Kindle fire censor my comments, even as I type?
Six attempts before it accepted " chairwoman "...seven attempts...Why is Amazon so concerned about my choice of words? Amazon accepted the agreed price for the device, but edits what I enter with the keyboard.

Sometimes it is nice to read a book that doesn't require a lot of thought. This was light reading and very funny.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny book July 24, 2013

I though this would be a crime or sexy story. There were some elements of them, but it was a humoristic book.

1.0 out of 5 stars It could have been good February 23, 2014

This book was free but after reading the whole thing, I felt like I wanted a big refund. It was an interesting premise that never gelled, and there was NO resolution of the plot at the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good February 17, 2014

The central chararcter is a loveably nutty chick with an unusual occupation. Don't think I'd like to date her , but as a fictional character she's great.

Did not care for this book. A little confusing with the talking to animals stuff, and the plot left a lot to be desired.

More About the Author

When a fan told her that she's a "fabulous author", a "great sport", and a "very cool chick", JB Lynn immediately thought, "that's what I want my obituary to say!".

A Jersey Girl transplanted to the Sunshine State, JB (you can call her Jen) writes laugh-out-loud suspense and mysteries, along with goosebump-raising thrillers.

She also guzzles coffee, spoils her dog, wastes endless hours daydreaming, and does her best to be a "cool chick" (but if you ever see her running, swimming, or biking, you'll know how dismally she fails).
