Jeff Wilson's a very knowledgeable modeller & hobbyist. I really use this book a lot in building my railroad. I think it has a lot for both the "rookie" and reminders/some details for the "veteran". There's good recommendations, quite a bit of step by step, and some follow-on references to expand your knowledge & library. While it doesn't go in to super detail on scenery, building construction, detailing, etc, I definitely feel it's a 'must-have' for anyone who wants to really step-in and start to build an HO Layout. There's other books on specific areas, but this one's for the "first steps"!
