3.0 out of 5 stars Too thick and hard (can be a problem)
I bought this for my boyfriend who drives hundreds of miles every week and has back problems. I thought he could put it in the car and his driving pains would be over. He used it for about a week but said that the vibrations were too strong, even at the lowest possible setting and also that the cushiong was too thick and made him sit too high at the wheel, even with...

I recieved the HoMedics BK-900 Back Rejuvenator 10-Motor Back Massager with Percussion Action today and am very pleased with its performance. It has exceeded my expectations. The percussion heads delivered a deep and pleasing massage in the upper back, while the other 8 motors provided a relaxing massage to the neck, lower back and upper legs while the heat produced an extra
level of comfort. I found the programmable hand control to be fully featured and very functional giving the user a wide range of options and settings, while the LED display made it easy to follow which zones where selected and so forth. The versatility of this unit was further enhanced by the 12 volt adapter, very nice. Anyone considering this unit should not hesitate in purchasing it, I feel it is a great value for the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Back Massage on the road, November 30, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Homedics Back Rejuvenator (Electronics)
I bought the BK900. Tried it in the house in a chair and a recliner and didn't really like it. Didn't hit me right (I'm about 5'5"). Well, I put it in my car with the included car adapter, and damn, bring on the traffic! I leave work where I stand all day, get in my car and turn on the heat and massage, and am transported to heaven. I find the percussion hits the wrong place (below the shoulder blades) and the upper massage doesn't really get my upper back/neck because of the slant of the car seat, but the heat on the lumbar region and three lower massage points are wonderful. I can control intensity, speed (with different massage styles), and I have become a much nicer driver. Also, the back problems I was having from standing all day have completely disappeared! I am also less stressed when I get home. My mate, however, dislikes it because it's too much vibration. Very different opinions. I like the rolling massage and all on maximum massage with heat. Some people might not like the lumpy pad if they aren't using the massage.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product but..., December 18, 2003

This review is from: Homedics Back Rejuvenator (Electronics)
This product is good and has all the features you heard except for two issues:
1. It is too thick (because of the percussion heads) so when i put it in my car i feel that i am too close to the steering wheel. so the only option i had was to put recline the seat further which caused my back/neck not to be straight and i can't use the head rest any more or i will be looking at the sky!! BTW, i am not a giant or anything, just 5'10 and i still found it too thick when the seat is farthest from the steering wheel. and i have a roomy car too (a 96 ford thunderbird)
2. That was the first reason, the second is the percussion heads are too strong.. I liked them very much when i first got the item.. i used them for about 10 minutes then my back started to hurt. so i turned them off. The thing is you cant use those for more than 2-3 minutes and you have no option but to have them on all the time.. i.e. you can't set them like the rest of the motors to zigzag , tap, etc.. so you end up feeling that you have a part of your back missing the massaging..

I tried the bk600 which was a good massager except it that it did not have all of the programming features so i guess i am going to return this one and buy the lss 10h which i hope wont be as thick as this one (no reason to be) and i know it does not have the percussion heads!!!

I think this is a better value (cheaper and have percussion heads) than the lss10h so if you dont mind the issues i mentioned above (if you are planning it for home or so) you can go ahead and buy it..
Good luck!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for...., June 13, 2003

Well this may sound odd, but this thing drains my sinuses. I have regular sinus headaches, I often noticed that riding a motorcycle drained my head. I also have my wife rub the top.. works too.

At work I am on my own, till now, I had always depended on Advil. The percusion function drains my head!! What can I say, this may not be the review you are looking for, but it will help someone.

The control is very nice. Clear and easy to use. The seat bottom is a tad uncomfortable, but I got use to it. I think for the cost you cant go wrong realy. Worst case, you can depend on amazon.com's friendly return policy. BUY IT!

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT!, May 8, 2004

I bought this item because I constantly have back and muscle aches from various home chores and I find that it is a welcome relief to relax and massage after a hard day of work! or also after (or during!) spending hours on the computer! (Specifically the center muscles in my back and lower back region.) Great for Moms who are constantly lifting children (or heavy items) all day long too! (like me!) Also great as a stress reliever/relaxer! The fact that it has SO many choices for speed, location of massage, heat, etc. makes this product perfect for everyone since each person will prefer a CUSTOM setting just for themselves! I prefer trying different settings every few minutes, and sometimes heat and sometimes not. I feel that the stongest pulsating action near the upper back is great for me at any/all speeds and strengths, but some people may want the settings lower for their own preferences. But that's the beauty in this product....the low strengths/speeds are very mild and vice versa for the high settings! Just great! The positioning problems others speak of in the other reviews on this product are baffling to me (especially the guy who can't adjust his car seat?) because all you have to do it move either yourself or the product into position to line up precisely where you want it and it is marvelous! In fact according to WHERE you have your particular soreness is precisely where you would want it on a particular day! Nice to be able to move it where you want each time, yes? I do agree that the only drawback is that the massage near the neck is hard to get close enough (like all the other areas) and it is too loud near my ears so I usually turn that section off because I find it to be distracting to my relaxation. But once you do that it is fine. The rest is NOT too loud! I think some of the other people are expecting an electronic item to have NO sound! How can this be when you have a vibrating product LOL! I have not gotten the chance to try this item in my car yet but I am looking forward to it. Only problem is....I feel the soothing action would actually be a distraction to driving! (There should be a law against using this while driving like the cell phones LOL!) I don't know about you but it puts me in such a relaxed meditative state that I would not want to be operating a motor vehicle while using this! But as I said...I have not tried this in my car yet so maybe I will put that comment on hold until I do try it in the car. All in all a nice product. Oh one more thing...despite the product instruction warnings I DO use this lying flat in bed with my head propped up with a pillow (OK so I live dangerously LOL!)....just make sure you have someone around to check on you in case you fall asleep....not sure what happens if you leave it on and fall asleep though......maybe you go to euphorialand LOL? It really does relax! I am not sorry I bought this product....and I checked ALL the similar items on Amazon before purchasing this and found this choice to be the best for mid-priced range and features offered. Coupons make it even a better deal! All I kept thinking about when I used this product is that I could use it for as long as I wanted and it was great.....as compared to a REAL massage (a human being) who charges $$$$ per hour LOL! It would be nice if the pad reached the lower legs....but then I believe they offer table massage pads for that. One more comment....As you try the different settings I believe that once you shut off the upper back pulsating area it actually makes the rest stronger, and vice versa. Don't forget to try this....because the two different sensations (with upper back pulsating on or off, and rest on) are completely different....you'll see! You are not going to believe what a soothing massage it is! Perfect for after a stressful day at the office or home....I know I sound like a commercial but it really is that good! My husband is not into "gadgets" and hasn't even tried this yet despite my urges that he do so.....oh well, more time on the massager for me! he-he!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Massage at Any Time, May 28, 2004

This has been a welcome addition at my house. The massager works better than I expected and although not a deep tissue massage, it does relax and rejuvenate. There are different speeds to select, different actions and heat. Being over 6'2" I do not get the effect on the neck while seated at home. I prefer the Massager while seated upright, yet, it does feel good and adds energy or relaxation when I need it.

This product works for me for my upper back problems. I do not know how it would work for someone with lower back pain.

For those on a limited budget or with too little space for a deep tissue massage chair that goes for over $1,000, this product may be the answer for your needs when your back hurts or when you simply wish to relax.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product for the price, July 10, 2003

It may be a stretch to call this a massager, but if your definition is anything that relaxes your muscles then perhaps its accurate. I purchased one of these when I was suffering from a recurring sciatica problem. I put the massager in my car and it seemed to really help keep the pain from flaring up. I think it just was enough vibration to keep my lower back relaxed. Someone said the heat didn't work, but mine worked very well after a few minutes warm up time. It would be nice to have one of those massage tables that you lay on and rollers go up and down your back, but won't be able to afford one soon. Again, for the price, this is an excellent relaxer. It is not a deep tissue or shiatsu massager. The one I have has two percussion vibrators that are located just under your shoulder blades and those really pound you. I wish they were located in the lower back region.

I bought this for my boyfriend who drives hundreds of miles every week and has back problems. I thought he could put it in the car and his driving pains would be over. He used it for about a week but said that the vibrations were too strong, even at the lowest possible setting and also that the cushiong was too thick and made him sit too high at the wheel, even with the seat set at its lowest point (he has a Ford Explorer). So it now sits in a closet. He did like the heat and said that relaxed him a lot but the sitting higher caused more problems.

My daughter and her husband just sent me this for my birthday. I have fibromyalgia and often have a hard time even getting to work. I received this last night while I was in considerable pain but after using it for an hour and a half before going bed, I woke up feeling so much better. Now, do I keep this on my sofa, put in my car, or on my desk chair? Or just carry it with me at all times! I love it.
