4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job - worth a try
I was looking for a good clipper set and decided to try this one due to the HoMedics promotion.
First of all, this was my first clipper set ever. So I have nothing to compare against (Wahl, etc.). But I can say that it did everything I expected. I do like to trim my hair very short (especially on the sides and the back) and this worked fine for that. Of course, my...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled by flashy look
Spend more money to get something better. This unit broke after 4 uses. No power, nothing. Their 2-year warantee requires I pay to ship it to Homedics AND give them a check for 5 dollars so they can ship it back. I rather give my money to a reputable company, and suggest you look at Wahl.

Of course, my wife had to do the trimming and it took her a little getting used to, but she's quite gotten the hang of it. My first hair cut wasn't so bad - a little non-uniformity here and there, but that could have just been my wife. I was still very pleased overall. Saved me time and money, and the haircut was not bad at all. One more haircut at home and I'll have saved enough money to cover the cost of this product!
Also, I didn't know this earlier, but there's an lever on the side so that you can do a fine adjustment on exactly how short you want to cut your hair (with or without the guide combs). Speaking of guide combs, they seemed good enough for my purpose. We started with the #1 on the back and the sides and blended upwards with the #2. Finally, we used the scissors to trim off the top.
By the way, I noticed that they didn't show a pair of scissors included in the picture of all accessories. So if you're wondering about that, it IS in fact included (handle is black).
So, in closing, I'd say this clipper set does all that you could expect it to do and it's definitely worth a try, especially if it's on sale!

5.0 out of 5 stars ... effective, July 27, 2002

I haven't had hair for a year. These clippers, properly lubricated as per the instructions, have lasted a year and have not lost effectiveness. I do not use an attachment and have maintained a stubble that is very texturally pleasing to a rubbing hand. The package comes with attachments, and I have used these on countless friends and whoever else in my dorm. comes with a video, haven't seen it, and also includes many other tools. If you've wondered what it's like to have a stubbly 1-mm head of hair, get this. It's great.

I ordered 5 units for my friend who use it in her salon. She likes the Wahl brand more. HoMedics PC-400 too big and heavy for her small hand. The tools are not very user friend.
