Looks nice, but I can never get a consistent reading,
This review is from: HoMedics SC-475 Digital Bath Scale with Tile Pattern Platform, Instant On and Auto Off (Health and Beauty)
I really wanted to like this thing, with its attractive design, easy-to-read numbers and sturdy construction. Unfortunately, even though I placed it on a flat, hard surface as instructed, I can never seem to get a consistent reading out of it. This morning I stepped on it twice in row and somehow "put on" a pound and a half in the course of 5 seconds. I don't know if I got a defective one or what, but this machine drives me crazy. I can't recommend it.

We put up with our old scale for many years, until it finally died--thank goodness because it wasn't very accurate or consistent. We bought this HoMedics SC-475 a few weeks ago and are very impressed with it. It is accurate and consistent. The readout is so clear and big that I (age 80) don't need my glasses to see it. It feels sturdily made.

Good if you want to know how much you weighed yesterday.,

My experience is similar to what I've seen in other reviews here. After you weigh yourself once, you will keep seeing that *exact* weight displayed for the next several days. You won't see a new reading on the scale unless your weight changes by more than 1.5 pounds or so. (Which makes the claimed 0.2 lb precision seem kind of silly.)
Thus, in order to get a fresh reading each morning, you have to get the scale to forget your weight from yesterday. Calibrating the scale (by tapping it) does not accomplish this. You have to weigh some other object. Once it has that new weight in its memory, you can use the scale to weigh yourself, and get a different reading than you had the previous day. Needless to say, a bathroom scale should not require this much effort to use. It's a shame, because it does have a nice large display and an attractive slate surface, making it distinct from all the glass-and-chrome clones on the market. But I need a scale that tells me my *current* weight, not yesterday's. And this one doesn't fit the bill.
