Owned Two Of These For Over A Year! What's With The Bad Reviews? I Like It!!,
This review is from: HoMedics Sound SPA Platinum Sound Machine with CD & Atomic Clock Radio (Electronics)
I want to address a couple of issues from what I have read in the negative reviews.
A few have said that the backlight is "too bright." Are you kidding??? They MUST have sensitive eyes because it's actually TOO LOW in brightness!! And remember I own two of these. Don't listen to those who say it's too bright as something is definitely wrong with their eyes! Also, the projector that projects the time on the ceiling is nice but I wish it was more brighter. And of course, a dumb person here and there on the reviews keeps saying the time keeps "changing" on them. HELLO??! There are different TIME ZONES that you can set in the back of the unit. PUT IT ON YOUR TIME ZONE AND IT WON'T KEEP "CHANGING!!!" Some people obviously didn't read the manual thoroughly. Since it does have the ability to connect to the Atomic Clock servers, should you have it on the wrong "time zone" it will "adjust" it to the "correct" one you left it on! Everything works fine and is great. The only annoyance is that the FM radio tuner is not digital it's just a knob so you have to move it VERY slow (on a bad reception radio station) when tuning in a station. But if you just leave it one station usually (like i do) it shouldn't be such a problem. So yes, having seen some of these negative reviews, I wanted to write a positive one in case someone is on the fence. I have both of them working and I've had them for over a year. They work great and I don't regret my purchase.

Beware of the back light!,
By
This review is from: HoMedics Sound SPA Platinum Sound Machine with CD & Atomic Clock Radio (Electronics)
This product has a 2-way switch on the back for the "back light" control. It's suppose to be Bright/Dim, but it should be labeled Bright/Brighter.
If you need anything approaching a dark bedroom, avoid this product. If you can sleep in any light, go for it -- everything else did work as advertised. PS - This appears to be the same unit as the "SS-6000".

Great CD alarm clock but WAY too bright,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is my second attempt in buying a CD alarm clock and I do not understand why the manufacturers make the LCD so bright! Even on its dimmest setting, this clock illuminates my room and makes it difficult to sleep. Additionally, the projection feature is too bright even when I've covered the LCD. I'm trying to find a creative solution because it's too much of a hassle to return.
I gave this alarm clock 3 stars because the sound quality is good and I like the nature sound options. I would be entirely happy with it if it weren't for the brightness. It's a great option for a child's room or anywhere light isn't a problem.
