4.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Fountain
I love this little fountain. I have not experienced any defects as the previous reviewer has. Mine works great and we have it going 24/7 in the living room. This fountain has good sound (as the water doesn't cling to the levels like it does in so many other fountains) and the light gives it a very relaxing feel. I love this little fountain. I have not experienced any defects as the previous reviewer has. Mine works great and we have it going 24/7 in the living room. This fountain has good sound (as the water doesn't cling to the levels like it does in so many other fountains) and the light gives it a very relaxing feel. The only reason I haven't given it five stars is because the materials are relatively flimsy and seem like they could break easily if not well maintained. And you do have to keep it clean or the "petals" will become discolored. Overall, it's not a bad fountain for the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute little fountain, January 4, 2009

This is such a peaceful fountain. No pump noise, just bubbling water. The light is very soft. Overall the fountain is very relaxing. I have hat it for a year and have had no problems with the item.

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks surprisingly good - when it runs, November 19, 2011

I like a fountain in my kitchen, and my cats love drinking from the running water. I thought this would work as something that they wouldn't demolish.

It looks surprisingly good when it is actually running. You know that you're just getting plastic at this price so I wasn't expecting any great work of art. And it has a loud enough water sound to be pleasant.

However, it is really, really hard to put together. Yes, you have to find and read the directions, but, no, the directions really don't match reality. For example, the tube from the pump to the base of the "flower" cannot be attached before you try to settle everything in the base of the fountain. The tube sort of touches the flower base - that's about the best you can do - and there's no way to connect it securely. Best I found was long needle-nose pliers to attach that tube last after the rest of the installation was complete. Oh,and they don't mention that what looks like a light bulb too big to fit in the hole on the bottom of the "flower" is actually the light bulb very, very securely encased in a protective sleeve which you have to remove to get the bulb to fit where it should. Then, once it is together, the water doesn't automatically run evenly and nicely over the edges. You have to rotate the middle layer of the flower to adjust it so that water doesn't spill over the edge - and some parts will just not get water.

Then there's the unsteadiness of the whole thing once it is together - very easy to knock over, especially by a curious cat. AND the pump is very, very weak. I've had it less than a month and already it has stopped working once after I had to reassemble it. I discovered that something was just binding it up, took off the filter, flipped the switch back on, and did a quick "jump start" by flicking the impeller with an ice pick and it's running fine again - but it doesn't inspire confidence in how long it will last.

5.0 out of 5 stars TO everyone giving this 1 STAR:, March 17, 2011
This review is from: HOMEDICS WFL-MARI FOUNTAIN MARIPOSA (Health and Beauty)
Every single review that has 1 star states that it looks cheap, the motor is cheap, that it's plastic.

YOU PAID $20 BUCKS FOR A WATER FOUNTAIN.

Seriously people. If you want something that looks expensive, then spend the dang money. How about writing review that are actually helpful to people?

FOR THE MONEY, this is a good product. If you want something nicer looking, google Sharper Image and shut up.

2.0 out of 5 stars Messy, January 14, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: HOMEDICS WFL-MARI FOUNTAIN MARIPOSA (Health and Beauty)
This product took me a while to set up because the layers were unbalanced and the water kept flowing out of the fountain. When I finally got it to balance correctly it lasted about a day until the water level was so low that water continued to shoot off the sides. This fountain is cheap and very messy. I ended up turning it off after about two weeks. It needs to be refilled every day and it becomes noisy when the water level is low. Also, it did not make the trickling noise i wanted, which was the only reason i bought it in the first place. I do not recommend purchasing this product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Water Fountain, October 24, 2011

It works! And I haven't experienced any of the concerns expressed in the manufacture's packaging. I didn't expect it all to be made out of plastic w/directions that were difficult to follow. But I was trying to balance price with desire. Advice: Spend a little bit more and purchase a more solid product. I kept my fountain and will purchase another (upgrade) the future.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice Sound...VERY Cheaply made, September 25, 2011
By

I like the sound of this fountain but the look of it up close and the power of the motor leave much to be desired. If the water in it evaporates, even with the fountain off, you may have trouble getting the fountain to restart. Last time mine was off for a while I had to add a little vinegar to the water to loosen the water deposits in the pump and get it running again. The plastic petals slip over a central column in three stages and the motor quickly loses the power to pump fast enough to fill the third stage. The light it not as bright as shown here either. You would not notice it in daylight.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor design; water splashes everywhere, July 3, 2011

We bought one of these yesterday and returned it before 24 hours had passed. Water splashes everywhere, which is too bad, because this problem could easily have been avoided if the base had simply been an inch or two wider. There is no sound of trickling or dropping water; the water is almost silent (not what we wanted). On a positive note, the pump was extremely quiet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good enough, March 25, 2011
This review is from: HOMEDICS WFL-MARI FOUNTAIN MARIPOSA (Health and Beauty)
The plastic leaves do look a little cheap but the lighting is nice. At first it made almost no sound. After about 30mins of making adjustments the fountain finally had a nice soothing sound to it. It is nothing luxurious but good for the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Aggravating to put together, January 14, 2009
This review is from: HOMEDICS WFL-MARI FOUNTAIN MARIPOSA (Health and Beauty)
I bought this item last night at a local Walmart because I have been overly tense lately and wanted to have something to calm the space of my apartment. You know like water will splash out the fieriness of stress. Well putting this fountain together was adding more to my stress level than relaxing it. First off the instructions are terribly written and the pictures are way too small to see where the bulb or pump goes. Secondly the pump tube is too short as is the bulb wire. Thirdly the 3 layers of petals are too flimsy for the stones and also the water runs right over the bottom petal outside of the base instead of into the base full of water so it goes onto the place I set it on. Lastly the pump is not powerful enough to push the water up all the way up the 3 layers of petals. I was lucky if it got up to the second petal layer the water. And the calming trickling water sound was non-existent since the fountain hardly worked any. They should junk this design and start all over again with a stronger one that is already assembled. All fountains for tabletop use should be already assembled in my opinion. This was just frustrating and stressful. I returning it next week when I go to Walmart and getting my money back or getting the candle one instead but I am going to open the box before I purchase one first to see what I buying this time.
