I've owned my 187 for over 2 years and have nothing but good things to say about it. Unless you plan to work with aluminum and would later need to invest in the gun/controller I would say this is just about the most any home would need. It will weld 1/4" all day long on a 30 amp breaker without breaking a sweat. My #3 bottle of c25 is still 3/4 full after many projects running at 15-30cfh....though mostly small volume projects.

This a great welding machine !

I am having a blast using it. I have had a Lincoln stick welder for over 30 years and manage to put some steel together. This welder opens a new world of possibilities , being able to work on sheet metal and aluminum now.

I made the purchased thru Amazon which removes the worry factor and the welder arrived a few days later in perfect condition. I couldn't have been any easier.

If your considering purchasing a mig in the future do not hesitate buy a Hobart from Amazon and then buy a gas cylinder from weldfabulous.com

Excellent welder; have welded 1/4" in one pass with 0.030 wire on gas with no problem. Has some blow thru problems on the thin side (22ga)even on the lowest recommended setting. Very happy with the welder overall.
