This is the least expensive welding helmet I found. It's reasonably comfortable. Both the strap over the top of the head and the strap around the head are adjustable. It's fairly heavy for a basic helmet. Also, the clear shield seems rather flimsy.

I got my helmet in several days ago and have been welding with it now for 3 days. I didnt want to buy a 60 dollar helmet because i will relaistically only be welding ONE project that I can think of.... SO for the price I was expecting a thin plastic hunk of junk. Well I got way more than that. For the price it is exceptional.

PROS:

*CHEAP! The best Pro!
*Blocks harmful rays
*Value

CONS:
*
Side helmet bolt stripped when I was using it
*Narrow viewing area

Overall I feel it is a 4.5 star, even with the issues I had. Totally worth it for me because I didnt want to throw down 60 bucks for something IM ONLY GOING TO USE ONCE!!!!!!

Satisfied.

I bought this for some occasional flux core welding. If you're doing some heavy work I would think a better helmet would be recommended but for the $13.99 I paid it works for me. The clear inner shield is about as thin as the packing on some meat wrappers and pops out if you press on it lightly. You can easily replace it with a piece of safety glass off that big 4 letter auction site and I will be doing so. Head fit and adjustment are OK and at the price I got what I expected and I'm not disappointed but my rating is based on that so if you're doing some heavy welding don't buy this one. If I wasn't so cheap I'd have gone for the auto darkening mask.

I dont know what the people before me mean by it's light. This is a pretty solid helmet, other than the headgear. Here in the shop, we have fixed shade helmets ($45) that are more flimsy than this. I'm concerned about the shade of the lens though. It says the shade is #10, but it's not any darker than #9 shade we use in the shop. Thus, the four stars. The clear lens on mine really isnt that thin, as said in the reviews before. I poked it pretty hard after reading those reviews and it stayed in place just fine, barely even bent. This really is a great helmet for new welders, hobby welders, and it's really affordable. Not an everyday helmet, but definately worth the $25! This thing will probly last just as long, if not longer, than the auto-darkening helmets bought for $100+ (as long as you take care of it)

Very pleased with this hood. I'm not into auto-darkening hoods; I like old school. The plastic of the faceshield is thick and sturdy, the headband is solid and the eyeshield is well made and sturdy. The only downside is the knobs on the sides that control the tension of the hood when it is up being plastic and jump threads if you tighten too much - hence the four stars and not five. That aside you can't go wrong for the price.

Some reviews of this helment talk about the clear lens being flimsy, well it's not suppose to be bullet proof, it's designed to keep welding slag out of your eyes when you are chipping and brushing your weld, it does a fine job of that and is made just like any other welding hood with a flip front lens, you can buy replacement clear lens for about .050 cents, as far as the headband goes, I'm sure you could find better, but not in this price range, you can't go buy a $15.000 car and expect it to run like a Porche, same with a helment, I've been welding for about 52 years and have used many a helment, this one does what all the others did. ( Protects your eyes ) I tried this helment out several times and had NO issues with it at all, the head band worked as it should the flip up sheild worked flawless as well, so for the home user this is an ideal helment ( in my opinion ) I don 't see how you could do much better, I docked one star for the way the clear lens is held in place, if you had to change it a lot, I don't feel like it would hold up, it has plastic teeth that secure it in place, that's the only thing i don't like about the helment, but for home or ocasional use it should last a long time. Marvin PS. the weldind lens can be changed to whatever shade you prefer.

buy another brand. read a few of the reviews and you will see the same problem over and over again. stripped or broken tension adjuster that holds up helmet. guaranteed to break and good luck finding any warranty help. I bought a new helmet, use it twice, it broke, could not get warranty parts or help, so I threw it in the trash. hard to believe from a big name mfg.
