Seems good. I have only run one other welding wire and thats the free spool of sample wire that Hobart sends with there welder and that was the E71T-GS which is a bit different Im told then actual E71T-11 spec. I guess GS is crappy spec wire but I couldnt tell a difference but Im not a pro welder either. Also E71T-11 can be used for multipass and all position wire and E71T-GS is single pass only. If ur gonna spend the money for good wire like this I would just buy Lincoln Innershield welding wire.

Only one roll of wire was received when the product was clearly advertised as a "Twin-Pack" of Hobart flux core wire (two-2 pound rolls). Trying to contact Amazon to correct this shipping error was extremely difficult without agreeing to return the one roll received via UPS and paying for shipping. It isn't worth the effort to pack the single roll, drive to UPS, stand in line and waste a couple of hours. Amazon needs to provide a better way to resolve simple mistakes like this - especially since Amazon made the mistake. Will hesitate to use Amazon again.

I saw the other review about this not being a twin pack. One person commented on it and asked if it was in fact two spools on a common core. Well, I put the spool I received on a postal scale and came up with about 2.25 pounds. So in my case, no, it's not a twin pack. I had already pulled off the plastic to check out the spool (since it's covered with a strip of paper), and I need it (and don't know where to find it locally yet), so I'm not sure if I should return it. However, I will NOT be ordering this item again ($20/pound) and will instead order the correctly priced $10/pound spools.

Same as others recently have mentioned... I got one half of the order (1 roll). I chatted with an Amazon Rep and after some back and forth with them they've sent me a second single roll. They say they are looking into the issue so it doesn't happen to other people, but I'm the second or third person writing this. Doesn't look like they've done much to correct it.

Works great, as does any Hobart wire I have ever used. For those not familiar with wire welding, there are two basic types for welding steel. Gas shielded, which uses gas flowing from an Argon (or other acceptable gas) to shield the weld from impurities, and gasless, also known as flux cored, where the shielding agent is contained in a flux that is held in a tiny hollow within the wire. The advantages of gas shielded welding include lower cost per weld (after the initial higher cost of purchasing the shielding gas bottle) and not having slag to chip off the welds. Gasless welding has the advantage of being able to work in windy situations, and is good for people who don't weld a lot, because it does take a certain amount of welding before you recoup the cost of the gas bottle compared to buying flux cored wire. In windy situations, the sheilding gas can be blown away from the weld, causing moisutre and oxygen in the air to penetrate the molten metal of the weld before it solidifies, which can result in a porous (weakened) weld. Flux cored wire causes the shield to be right on top of the weld (flux, which turns to slag) as the weld is being formed, and is unaffected by any kind of wind any sane person would be welding in. Flux cored welding is also simpler, there is no gas bottles to deal with, or valves and regulators to adjust, etc. Just adjust the welder voltage and wire speed and go.
I do the maintanence and repairs for a farming operation, and I have a heavy-duty gas shielded wire welder inside the shop, and generally use a smaller portable welder, with flux cored wire, for my field repairs, or for things that are not practical to carry indoors.

I like the ability to purchase 4 pounds instead of just 2 with a little price break on the dual pack. I go through about 2 pounds about every other month on projects around the ranch.

I had read on a forum opinion or two that this would work better than Lincoln 211MP on my Miller 140. Not so much. Its ok, but I don't see a huge improvement, and it seemed to leave a bit more undercut. It certainly ran hotter and was less controllable, even after adjustments. A caveat: I spoke with a Miller rep demo'ing some products at a nearby LWS and mentioned my observations / difficulties. He suggested getting the machine checked out to ensure it is adjusted properly, and doesn't need anything fixed/adjusted. Just my mileage.

This really is great flux-cored wire for welding. If you are less fortunate and can't afford a gas-ready mig and a gas bottle, then this is for you. My welder originally came with some lesser-known name wire and the results of welding weren't favorable. Instead of buying a new MIG I decided to try this wire and to my surprise it was a world of difference! The weld quality is much better albeit not perfect, but definitely acceptable.
