Hobo's Demo's is the best alternative country album I've ever heard. Drag's sound has hints of other styles, but they create a style all their own. They put on a great show too. (...)

One of the best Alt-Country Cd's I've heard but...,

But... I wish it wasn't so directly influenced by Uncle Tupelo/Son Volt, etc. Though, I love those bands and many of their hybrids. I think this band is obviously as good and talented as any of them and deserve the equal success. Maybe on their upcoming new CD they won't be as direct with the influences. Otherwise, this is the best Alt-Country CD I've heard since the 1st time I heard Anodyne (See Uncle Tupelo) or Trace (See Son Volt)

The first time I ever of Drag the river was from Pinhead Circus an awesome punk rock band from Colorade (you have probably heard of them if your into Drag the river). They did a cover of 'Mars Motors' off "the Black power of Romance," album and I thought (and still think) it was one of the best, if not the best song on that album. Since it was such a good song I really wanted to find out you Drag the river was. When I finally did hear them, I was a bit taken back because it was Country, but at the same time it was really good country. It was country, but it had a punk rock attitude mixed with folk music and alternative, not the kind of crap you hear on the radio or tv. Songs like 'Next time not around' and 'tomorrow morning' reminded me of the slow songs of Social Distortion, while songs like 'Mars Motors' and 'Disbelieve' have a unique country meets folk meets punk rock feel to them (at least that's what I think). The lyrical content is pretty country base: Boozin', girls breakin' hearts, and life in general. The production, the use of a variety of different instruments and the overall tone of this album is brillant. Highly recommand.
