A charming romance that has been one of my favorites from the first time it aired on TV. Sharon Gless and Richard Thomas show that the basis for a relationship doesn't have to be fire and passion, but understanding of each others needs. This film will make you feel good for the times when life was a little less complicated.

I just finished watching this movie. Although it is not the most well-done movie (it IS from the 80s after all), I was hooked almost immediately. The action starts right at the beginning of the film with Maggie's outlandish idea. It is a study in characters to see the growth of Maggie from the dominant one to quietly supportive housewife and Will from the timid one to taking his lead as husband. The affection that grows between them is charming.

This is a sad re-make of a glorious movie starring Charles Laughton in the title role as the domineering father in a household of women. Before you purchase this film, do yourself a favor and watch the original Charles Laughton version.
