This review is from: Bench Plane Blade, 2" (Misc.)
I have upgraded most of my bench planes and spokeshave with Hock blades and the difference in performance is significant. Make your old Bailey plane sing like a Lie-Nielsen. Well, almost. These high carbon blades do require sharpening before use and hold an edge very well. Use Charlesworth's ruler trick to reduce time to flatten the back. Watch out for rust--coat blades with camillia oil after sharpening.
