New Haven professional hockey has a long and storied history that dates back to 1926, when the Eagles were an inaugural team in the Canadian-American Hockey League. Nine professional ice hockey teams have called New Haven home, first in the New Haven Arena and later in the New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Sadly, New Haven's long run in professional hockey ended after the 2001-2002 season. There were many talented players over the years, including Frank Beisler, Emile Francis, Don Perry, Ron Rohmer, John Brophy, Chico Resch, Tom Colley, Frank "Never" Beaton, Hubie McDonough, Peter Worrell, and Glenn Stewart. Hockey in New Haven is the story of the players, coaches, and teams that entertained generations of fans in the Elm City.

Heather Bernardi, staff accountant of the New Haven Knights booster club, and Kevin Tennyson, curator of the New Haven Traveling Hockey Museum, are longtime New Haven hockey fans. They previously coauthored the State of Connecticut Historical Buildings and Places application for the New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Enjoyed this very much. It not only provided a history of hockey in New Haven but it provided me great memories of what I saw growing up as well as my and my families involvement with the Nighthawks. My whole family and some hockey friends have a copy now.

This is the best book about Hockey that I have EVER read! I am a HUGE hockey fan and the author's did such an incredible job with this. I am excited about meeting the authors at the book signing on October 25th at Barnes and Noble in North Haven. Its about time someone captured the TRUE game of hockey!
