About the Author

Scott Noble has written dozens of articles on hockey gear and game-play. As manager of a busy hockey pro shop, Noble gained keen insight into the world of adult recreational hockey. In addition, he has also coached hockey and consulted with major equipment makers. Noble began playing hockey at the ripe age of thirty-four at his wife's suggestion. Since that moment, he's become hopelessly addicted to the sport.

More About the Author

Currently the owner of Rocket Skate, a full-service hockey pro shop, Scott Noble has been unraveling the confusing world of hockey retail for customers since 2001. Playing both goalie and forward (sometimes at the same time) gives him a unique perspective to the sport. His ability to translate the complexities of the game and its gear into simple, understandable and humorous language, has often been praised.

Scott has consulted with equipment manufacturers, coached young players and written dozens of articles. His hockey articles have been published on the internet and in several magazines, including Premier Hockey, Ice, and Beer Advocate. He's also been interviewed as an equipment expert for newspaper articles published by the New York Times, Vancouver Sun and Ottawa Citizen. His articles on equipment have helped thousands of people make informed buying decisions on hockey gear. Three of his articles have landed in the permanent collection at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

His first book, the highly acclaimed "Hockey for Weekend Warriors," was something of a surprise. Noble never pictured himself writing non-fiction (or enjoying doing it so much). The second edition of "Hockey for Weekend Warriors" will be available in September 2011. December 2011 marked the publication of Noble's highly anticipated novel, "Speaking of Life, Death and Hockey . . . "

Expect to see Goalie for Weekend Warriors in 2012.

4.0 out of 5 stars For the Rookie, and the Skate Buyer, November 11, 2005

A fun read. For the rookie, a great book to provide some street (or rink) smarts. For more experienced players it includes great information on buying new equipment. The chapter on skate buying is probably the best, and will save people (or at the very least be worth) the $10 they pay for the book in getting the right skates. Doesn't include much in the way of even basic strategy, which could maybe be volume 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars Witty and great insight, September 14, 2005
This review is from: Hockey for Weekend Warriors: A Guide to Everything from Skates to Slap Shots to Separated Shoulders (Paperback)
I loved reading Noble's book. I have played hockey for over two decades and still learned what he had to offer. While the book is geared towards those interested in beginning to play hockey, I highly enjoyed the witty humor and insight into the game.
