4.0 out of 5 stars Hip Modern Functionalism?
Obvious words such as hip, trendy, and stylish can be thrown around to describe the set's sexy aesthetic. Easier to resuse and reseal than the plain old cork that came with the bottle of wine - if you find yourself sometimes accidentally pushing the cork into the inside of your wine bottle or struggle seemingly forever to get a new helping of zinfandel, your clumsiness...

1.0 out of 5 stars These don't expand to fit all wine bottles
I previously had a chrome wine stopper purchased from another store, but it was damaged by falling into an active garbage disposal, so I bought these as replacements. The previous stopper had a thick rubber part that created the seal. The rubber sections on these are so thin that they didn't even seal the wine bottle I first tried them on. This review is from: Hoffritz 3-Piece Chrome Wine Bottle Topper Set with Clear Stand (Kitchen)
All three stoppers in the set had the same problem.

Oxygen and leakage are death to a wine, so a stopper that doesn't seal is worse than just replacing the cork.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hip Modern Functionalism?, October 9, 2000

Obvious words such as hip, trendy, and stylish can be thrown around to describe the set's sexy aesthetic. Easier to resuse and reseal than the plain old cork that came with the bottle of wine - if you find yourself sometimes accidentally pushing the cork into the inside of your wine bottle or struggle seemingly forever to get a new helping of zinfandel, your clumsiness may merit this item a necessity. True, while not a complete, must have necessity for all; it serves its purpose and protects already opened bottles of wine from absorbing the weird, funky odors of whatever else is gracing your frig. However, I've moreover found the Bottle Topper Set and Stand to be more of a fun gift item for friends turning the legal drinking age or as an apartment warming gift for kids who are living on their own for the first time and attempting it in an urbane, swinger style. Perfect present for someone who doesn't really drink or doesn't drink too much, but likes to be thought of as a sophisticated, savant-ish consignor of all things novel and capriciously fun. Withstands dishwasher wear favorably and likes to be polished a couple times a year.

1.0 out of 5 stars good looking but not so good, February 21, 2007
This review is from: Hoffritz 3-Piece Chrome Wine Bottle Topper Set with Clear Stand (Kitchen)
I bought these a couple months ago. they are a very good looking set of bottle stoppers but it has only been a couple months with minimal use and I have already noticed major problems. The first issue is that they do not fit italian bottles of wine, the bottle stoppers will not even go in with force so if you drink mostly or all italian wine you will have no use for these. The second issue is that of bottles that they do fight it is not a tight fit. If you put it in the bottle and not move the bottle at all it will not drip but if you rock it back and forth once even lightly a little wine will drip out. The third issue is with the plating, they seem to be chrome plated but the chrome plating starts to come off after one use. I used it for a week, when I took it out of the bottle I relized it was either rusted or small amounts of the plating came off, I hand washed it and realized it was permanent. I have bought many items from amazon.com but this item is unfortunatly the only one I have been compelled to write a nagative review about. This item is also overpriced.
